no offence to anyone but is the part of the forums really required? no many people seem to use it at all and via products arent anywhere as popular as they used to be...

What's the matter with it? I have a VIA chipset, where am I supposed to discuss it if this forum goes???

I'm surprised there isn't a nVidia (nForce) or SiS (Sillicon Integrated Systems) forum here.

I suggested this too a while back, but it doesn't really hurt anyone by leaving it here, it's a great source of information to search through, and traffic might pick up again once the new round of nani-itx gear arrives.

Why remove it? Doesn't hurt to leave it here.

It's nice for those of us with C3 cpus in Mini ITX systems or whatever.
I've found it more useful than the other forums too, because since AMD and Intel are both mainstream the forums are crowded with crap, unlike the VIA forum which is a bit of a minority/specialized group.

I don't want to see it removed.

By the way, I think it's more for those with Via CPUs than VIA chipsets (a huge group), since otherwise as you rightly mention we'd need forums for sis/nvidia/etc...

nForce forum sounds like a good idea... maybe you should post the idea in the Forum Discussion thread

Heh, it wasn't an idea. It was a comment.

I don't think we need a forum section for each chipset type to be honest, having one for the 3 main CPU types, and for the main Graphics types (Nvidia/ATI) might be a good idea though.

Perhaps a rename and a new all inclusive focus would be better.

    The Chipset Forum?

I doubt it, the AMD and Intel forums handle chipset threads well enough already.

Imo, it doesn't have enough traffic here to warrant it staying
I'd like to see it go as it would reduce the number of different forums we have here on ocau

Where are people with VIA/Epia gear meant to go then?

Don't mean to flame but who cares if there are lots of forums? Just cause you don't use/need it doesn't mean others don't appreciate it being here. :)

I hope it stays, it's been a more valuable forum section for me than the Intel and AMD forums.

I'd say the sff/portable forum would be more suited to those people.

You guys raise an interesting point, last time this discussion came around it was shot down as this was a good home for EPIA/C3/Nano-ITX and Envy24/Vinyl discussion, but now we have the Portable/SFF and PC Audio forums. Just need to make sure PI's great Hyperion sticky gets put somewhere useful.

Dont take it out....or else the front page wont look the same ;)

Atleast if you keep this here, it wont look like a Amd Vs Intel section

You could change the SFF and portable forum to "SFF, Portable and related chipset/low power CPU's"
That would cover Via c3/7, Transmeta, Geode and Banias/Dothan.

Or you could change this forum to "Chipsets and Low power CPU's"

I'd say wait for the next batch of VIA gear to come out, if the forums don't pick up much after that then ditch it, otherwise leave it be.
