Hello Everyone, Need some advice please.

My current setup occupies valuable lounge room space, it has to go.
So i am thinking of getting rid of the desk, comp chair, 27inch monitor, keyboard and mouse and replacing with a touchscreen monitor (not sure of size atm) and connect to comp.
I would be on lounge approx 3 meters away from case.
    And i dont game anymore.
    Just everyday stuff.

Question is, would this work, if so whats the best way to connect and what to look for in touchscreen monitors.
Any input would be gratefully appreciated.

    Many Thanks :)

You won’t find many large format touch screens (27” likely the largest consumer model) that will give you the performance of a dedicated monitor.

27” is gonna be a stretch at that distance. I have a computer hooked up to a TV (32” at 4m) and it’s okay coupled with Logitech K400 for control but sometimes I have to use the magnifying glass to see what I’m clicking.

I looked into AIOs as well for the same reason but they are mainly 22-24” which at 3m is not feasible.

Sounds like you would be better suited with a laptop or something?

Yeah saw those but at that budget better to get a good quality TV and keyboard controller. 250-350 nits is also gonna make it hard as a TV type set up.

better how and for who? OP has a specific use case and I dunno - AIO touchscreen sounds perfect to me.

Having said that, 3m is quite a long way away....

    The OP states this.

I guess he doesn't say how far he is from the screen.

And 15 to 20 inch would be sufficent as a touchscreen :)

do you really want to be using something that'll have at least 2 cables (power + hdmi/DP - possibly three add USB for touch capability) instead of a tablet or laptop/convertible.

    I use a large format (12") tablet.

Not interested in laptop or tab, All i want is to get rid of current (monitor, keyboard, mouse, desk and comp chair) and replace with a handheld touchscreen while hooked up to main computer.
    Many Thanks

keen to hear what you end up doing.

and after how many minutes you get sick of it.

    - a monitor isn't designed to be hand held - it'll be somewhat heavy and hot
    - windows via touch is a terrible user experience - Windows itself is somewhat passable, but most of your apps won't be.
