I'm trying to reset my old. Hp probook6450b running win7. The cds that came with it (I'm pretty sure they are the ones as it was packed with hp booklets) don't seem. To boot up when I go thru the recovery/reset procedures. I'm not savvy in this area, I googled how to. Reset and it basically says I need the cds or I need to get minitool partition Any advice on the easiest way to delete and restore back to factory. It's a basic laptop and I was going to gift it to a student as it still runs ok
i would make a win 10 usb or dvd & try to boot to it, then you should be able to upgrade or clean install 10, as long as the wireless works straight up (which it mostly does even on oldies) & hope it reactivates, it should, your in.
if it's got the original OS load, try this document, https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01867418 or as above and likely a better option run the Windows 10 upgrade assistant from here, it should work for you (be sure to backup first and tell the wizard you don't want any old files or settings. https://support.microsoft.com/en-au/help/3159635/windows-10-update-assistant
it is, and generally just works on everything. the most recent one i have done personally was less than 6 months ago. just use the assistant.
