i think a wheel might make it worse, i found that because the civic is so slow you really have to not lose momentum once you are up to speed - just like real life i imagine!

Yep, reminds me of playing the early cars in Gran Turismo. You've got no torque, so it's all about momentum and finding the lines that keep the revs up. If the revs do drop, the slow gear change means shifting down will probably cost you more time than just pulling your way out of it.

3rd is the lowest gear I've grabbed in any of these courses, and I do that far less now than when I started.

For Outer Ring, keep left, keep it pegged in 4th and dodge the oncoming cars.

THIS. I think you're pretty much better off tapping a wall slightly out of a corner than braking and dropping a gear into the corner.

I turned traffic off, did I cheat?

From memory this game provided force feedback even on a logitech G920 on PC.
Even without feedback though I think the turning range of a wheel would probably allow you to take smoother lines.

    Resort Loop/Wall Center update.
Struggle to get a good start on Wall Center because of a black car that decides to do a 90 degree turn in front of me consistently right after the start.

I like traffic on myself for the comedy chaos factor, but for those competing for top spot I say sure turn it off!

I purposely didn't update my times until I beat all 3 of yours.
I'm very impatient though so if you beat me and I can't beat you in within and hour of trying I'll likely concede defeat.

Outer Ring update. This time was set with traffic and opponents off. Good for setting times, but pretty boring lol. Also, this was the first session on my new Athlon rig with all the power and pixels - OMG.

[edit] New times added for others. Enjoying this machine too much.

    ...Yeah...sure.

First time participating in retro racing. This game piqued my interest far too much to let it go.

I've gotta hand it to Pierre32, jimbogimp, and WuZMoT, those Wall Center Sprint times are pretty good!

not calling you a liar because i almost did it myself but the time on your third screenshot was missed since it cycles through.

Wall Center is easily the least enjoyable track of the three due to the fuckstain AI at the start and all of the tight corners. Though it appears you turned AI racers off as well.. if that's what we're gonna do then I'll probably give all three another crack with no AI.

pretty sure it was the black 180SX that was causing me troubles in Wall Center Sprint. The dog would just sandwich me on the left side against a wall until he pulled in front of me and road blocked me. It was very consistent.

Thanks for point that out! I'll run up another time and get the screenshot with the time in it.

What's the consensus with AI, and traffic (maybe I missed the post)?

    I was just going off:
