I just learned that you can autosave your shot in Win10 too, with a key combo. "To capture your entire screen and automatically save the screenshot, tap the Windows key + Print Screen key ... the screenshot will be saved to the Pictures > Screenshots folder." Wish I'd known that several racing challenges ago, or several years ago.
Yep... or CTRL + ALT + PS or use the "game bar" in Win10, Win Key + G. You can take screenshots, videos etc. and can also turn on with an Xbox controller if paired with the PC. JSmith

Good game, one of the first (Need for speed 1 or 2, not sure) I bought for my Win95 DX1 Cyrix 166+. Run great with no hardware acceleration.
I updated the first post with some hopefully helpful tips that came from the thread. I was going to add some more screenshots too. But this whole linux print screen situation is somewhat whacky. If you squint you can see my times, honest! Done. It doesn't bring any performance to the table on a 533mhz system. But at least it reduces the character of the graphics and adds glitches. 'sif not if you can. More importantly, you've shown that there is a place where we can just take one screenshot. [edit] For anyone wondering, access that screen at Location -> Track Records. The critical areas that I'm not nailing are turn one, and the two city bends. I believe I need to switch to arcade handling, and the reason for that is in the comments here: https://www.reddit.com/r/needforspeed/comments/9u5yqn/brake_to_drift_in_need_for_speed_ii_se/ Fastest Single Lap Boneman 1:21.03 Grant 1:21.96 jimbogimp 1:24.81 Pierre32 1:25.03 Mut 1:34.65 -------------- -------------- Fastest 4 Lap Race Boneman 5:36.12 Grant 5:40.28 jimbogimp 5:48.46 Pierre32 5:53.78 Mut 6:45.31
Well, I couldn't work out how to completely avoid the brake. But I did learn to work with it. Wild physics, manual transmission, 3rd person cam to get away from the shakes, three beers, many swears. I cant improve my times i might have to buy a wheel if this form continues edit - forgot, its because im on PS1 version my times rock
I can confirm that all the time I was losing was in the three turns I mentioned above. Turn one, and the two city bends. The rest of the track you pretty much just sit back and enjoy the scenery. I switched to MT so I could drop it back to 4th, to keep the revs up and induce a bit of oversteer. But the ratios are weird, as is the way NFS handles revs & the rev limiter (I am probably expecting too much of an arcade game here). In the end I found the speed keeping it in 5th, so MT is arguably a waste of time. The trick was a short dab on the brakes on approach, then straight back on the gas and chuck it in. Get it right and you can maintain 160mph+. I don't get it right often.
really, i dont mind. I'm playing on an underpowered laptop with a small screen (so just like playing on period correct hardware ) I'm in it for the fun factor. its a blast playing some of these old games again. also, i reserve the right to blame PS1 version for my times
i played for a bit on my laptop while i was watching tv and my times with just a keyboard in this setting are awful, lol. but it ran awesomely with the guides linked to in this thread!
Me too. I thought I was relatively good at racing games, that is, until we started doing these challenges
Yeah I'm not the quickest either. PC version with a Thrustmaster 360 upad (for that early 2000's experience). Lap 1:25:31 4 lap race with traffic 5:56:18
