I've never played it in all my years - does it have a storyline or is it more of a Quake one-liner type deal?

Unreal had way more of a story than Quake or Doom:

Definitely not Half-Life era story, but still pretty good for an FPS of that generation.

There's an idea. Go through all those old magazine discs and see what games I can find. Obviously they will be shareware, but should contain machine specs and the like. I never throw away old mags and I have heaps. Might even get me off Fallout 4 for a while!

Old magazines are some of my favourite things to research. I've got a pretty big personal collection, but there's a tonne online too!

Or you could buy it here: Rise of the Triad: Dark War - PC 1995 - NEW & SEALED - APOGEE - MINT - BIG BOX - AU$999.99

This guy has been trying to sell it for ages it that price! Definitely buying it from GOG though, good pickup there! I think my GOG library is now bigger than my Steam library!

EDIT - Terminal Velocity is also on sale on GOG for $1.99 :)

And apparently I have 130 games now in my GOG library (just bought ROTT and Terminal Velocity). :)

The funny thing is - I saw that one last night because I actually bought a game from that seller and was checking out what else they had. There was a 1/2 price sale for that seller, and I found "Tony La Russa's Ultimate Baseball", which is a big-box SSI game (I'm a sucker for Sierra, Lucasarts, Microprose and SSI)... and it was "Buy it now" for $14.99 with free shipping. They wouldn't have made much at all from that sale!

I bought and played Turok 2 a few months back, but to be honest, I should have left it as an N64 memory. The levels are stupidly, painfully long. I burnt out in trying to finish the first level in one evening. :tired:

I'm starting to think they are remastering their games just to give them away. so many of them have been free on varying services now.

Giving a handful of games away for free is a neat way of getting people talking about something.

They do say the first week is the "critical week" for game releases, with the bulk of sales made then, and tailing off after that. This might raise a bit of interest for a couple of days on the socials and get a few extra sales in for those that missed the 48 hour window.

There's actually an unofficial "Special Edition" of Fate of Atlantis which is currently in development by fans. You can download a work in progress playable "Demo 2.0" from their website.

I haven't played it yet but from the screenshots and the trailer it looks pretty good. But I would rather see an official remake done.
