thanks for the tip, will check it out ... also bought a midi cable (found one in AU) and the power adapter you listed (thank you again) ...

slowly amassing some nice 90s hardware ... still would like a 468 DX 2-66 but while I am looking, I will just slow down the Pentium 233MMX if I have issues with any older games.

Hey there friendos, can we please keep this thread to legal retro software on sale?

Happy for abandonware talk to exist in the other threads. But I'd very much like this thread to remain 100% legal options for people to have access to.

I didn't bring up the topic, I was replying to the Playing games in browser from archive.org which isn't exactly legal either.

But happy to delete my comment.

I'm not having a go at anyone. Nobody's in trouble. :)

The goal of this thread is to provide 100% legal options in the form of sales and legitimate freeware. Just asking for it to remain on topic. Happy for all other discussion to migrate into the "retro activity" threads, or the dedicated eXoDOS thread.

Big GoG sale on right now. Heaps of old stuff heavily discounted.

    https://www.gog.com/games?page=1&sort=release_asc&price=discounted

I just nabbed the original Unreal Tournament for under $4, which I've been dying to play with my kids who only know games like Overwatch. But I also see there's a couple of Blake Stone games there which I've been keen to get back in to.

    And Crystal Caves too! Yisss.

Nice. I might grab an old flight sim. The question is, F-19, F-117 or Falcon? (Probably leaning towards the Falcon pack).

Tempted to grab Starflight too. I only learned about it recently on the DOS Nostalgia podcast, and it certainly doesn't sound like something I'd have time to finish. Looks like a fascinating precursor to Star Control though.

All. You must get them all.

Falcon and F-117 are both fun but not really the same. Not an either/or situation.

Double Fine have a great deal going on Humble Bundle:

    https://www.humblebundle.com/games/double-fine-20th-anniversary-bundle

Heaps of new and classic games including Full Throttle, Day of the Tentacle, Grim Fandango, Psyochnauts and more.

All of that available for peanuts, and a bit of money goes to my favourite charity (and one I used to volunteer for, bringing money, games and computers to Aussie hospitals): Child's Play.

Castlevania Collection is under $10 on Steam:
    https://store.steampowered.com/app/1018010/Castlevania_Anniversary_Collection/

Features most of the 8bit and 16bit Castlevania games that were released across NES, SNES, Megadrive, and Gameboy.

If you're the kind of person who loves the methodical approach of Dark Souls or Bloodborne, give this a go. These greatly inspired the generation of "slow precision" games we have today.

    Castlevania
    Castlevania II Simon's Quest
    Castlevania III Dracula's Curse
    Super Castlevania IV
    Castlevania The Adventure
    Castlevania II Belmont's Revenge
    Castlevania Bloodlines
Kid Dracula (never released in English before)
History of Castlevania - Book of the Crescent Moon

DOS versions of Mortal Kombat 1, 2 and 3 in a bundle for $2.09 on GoG:
    https://www.gog.com/game/mortal_kombat_123

GoG provide it in a nice DOSBox wrapper for Windows and Mac, but this will work easily in true DOS or other OSes that support DOSBox.

MASSIVE Sega sale going on for the next week on Steam. I'm going to go nuts on this.

First up, Sonic 2 is free. This will play either in the free Sega tools for PC (with lots of cool options like a virtual room and CRT to play on), or you can extract the ROM and play it in your own emulator or on a flash cart on real hardware:
    https://store.steampowered.com/app/71163/Sonic_The_Hedgehog_2/

The entire Sega Megadrive bundle is massively discounted, down to $10.14
    https://store.steampowered.com/bundle/13945/SEGA_Mega_Drive_and_Genesis_Classics/

Sonic CD (from the Mega CD - not sure if there's an ISO you can get to) is under $2:
    https://store.steampowered.com/app/200940/Sonic_CD/

    Sonic Adventure (originally on Dreamcast):
    https://store.steampowered.com/app/71250/Sonic_Adventure_DX/

    Sonic Adventure 2:
    https://store.steampowered.com/app/213610/Sonic_Adventure_2/

    Bayonetta is cheap:
    https://store.steampowered.com/app/460790/Bayonetta/

    The brilliant modern Sonic Mania:
    https://store.steampowered.com/app/584400/Sonic_Mania/

And its DLC which adds heaps of content:
    https://store.steampowered.com/app/845640/Sonic_Mania__Encore_DLC/

    And heaps more:
