https://heavy.com/entertainment/eddie-van-halen-dead/ RIP one of my favorite guitarists, especially his 70s lics. FYI - he was battling throat cancer.
I'm absolutely gutted. He was a huge influence and played a big impact on my guitar playing skills when I used to play. I'm currently watching Live Without a Net - EVH's playing during that concert still blows me away to this day! R.I.P Eddie Van Halen
why do people say "battling cancer"? you dont battle heart disease or battle diorreah, were all the million dead from covid also "battling covid"? its dumb you cant battle shit. you are at the mercy of the doctors and drugs only. (maybe 'battle' means a long term illness and im stupid)
https://www.collinsdictionary.com/dictionary/english/battle-an-illness Common term used extensively in everyday use of the English language. So explain what the immune system does when it discovers you have cancer... https://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/video/how-immune-system-fights-cancer/ Now take your silly hypothesis to a suitable thread, this one is for remembering Eddie Van Halen.
Suffer from Cancer is more like it. Battle gives the wrong impression of what happens. And belittles those that die from cancer, like they didnt try hard enough.
I felt like i'd been punched in the balls this morning when i read the news. RIP EVH, you will always be the greatest guitar-man ever.
Sad news. I hope he reconciled with Michael Anthony and Sammy Hagar before he passed. When last year's reunion tour with Michael Anthony was suddenly cancelled, the signs were there that the original band was never going to reunite. David Lee Roth also had mentioned that as a band they were no more. A virtuoso, who inspired countless imitators, as well as a musical genius. I only got to see VH live twice, but the band did look after the Aussie fans, with quite a few if us given free tickets, backstage access or invites to private meetings in 1998. Back then, the top Van Halen website in the world was run by an Australian in Melbourne, and I think he even got asked to have dinner with EVH and Valerie. It was a bit crazy they let their son who was about 6 be looked after by some of the fans!
<- EVH, The King. Ed is a timeline in history. There is pre-Ed and post-Ed. A clear defining line where it all changed. Not just the songs and the playing, but the way we built guitars & used amps. It all changed. Thanks Ed. Edit - from what I know, he and Sam had been in contact and made amends. He had a stroke about a month a go and they found that his cancer had spread to his brain. He had a phone call with DLR early in the week. This from the last gig in 2015 - looks like they knew it was over.
I like this story of this guy who didn't have anywhere to stay so EVH let him live in the 5150 studio. Especially the part about the illegal cable TV that Eddie had.
