    Please, talk here

Link pics only in Gadget_'s thread

    Thanks!!

So.. first of all.. who's coming?

A friend from the airforce let me know they'll be dual F111's doing a crossover dump and burn for the finish.

Personally I'll be shooting (not sure if I'll be posting..) with a couple of mates with better rigs than mine but we haven't picked a spot yet (at this point I'd like to beg/bribe someone to let me on to the roof of a waterfront building, any takers?).

Where is everyone else shooting from?

Spose its one of those things you have to plan now and get there very early to setup to beat the hordes. I am fortunate enough to be shooting from the Shadow Lounge above Jade Buddha this year, but had reasonable success around Kangaroo Point last year.

I'm all set! A mate booked a room high up in the city facing the river- should be a great night. :D

I'll have to keep an ear out for the pigs doing their practice runs as they fly right over work.

Hmm... for once I might be free. Keen to try time-lapse of it as opposed to regular photos. How long does the display usually go for? Could have fun trying to find a good spot for it.

Do you know when they'll be doing their practice runs? They normally do a couple of passes about lunchtime a couple of days before the event....

Hopefully I'll be somewhere @ Southbank on the night

I can remember being in Golfworks at The Gabba, either on the Thursday or Friday before the event. Would have been early afternoon and the place shook as the did their practice pass, twice.

If they're doing a crossover D&B, I expect one'll go down the Southbank reach, the other down the Kangaroo Point reach. A good wide angle on River Plaza or something would get an awesome photo (damn that lack of both a good wide angle and a River Plaze apartment :))

At the moment I'm planning on shooting from my balcony... That is if they're doing fireworks from the regatta again this year.

I live on the 9th floor bout 200m down river from the regatta. Should be good shooting...

Plus it was way too high.. it was over the city, not the river. I'm told it could be seen from the gold coast.. but *I* couldn't see a damn thing where I was.

Still looking for a good shooting location.. if anyones got a parent/friend/relative that works at QUT.. I will donate someones left testicle if I can shoot from the roof of the sports complex :)

(This also applies to construction workers on the new Suncorp building, security at the Treasuary..)

I heard the F111s, the Roulettes and the helicopter - but didn't get any photos.

I'll be 20+ floors up with my tripod and 350D though - hopefully I can get some decent shots.
