This pic is still uncropped. Just resized and ran noise cancellation over it for this thread.

I quite like this picture but I'm really pissed off about it. 1/50th of a second less exposure and I'd have captured the plane too. You can just see the start of the flame where the fuel ignites at the back of the plane at the top of the shot

    *grumble*

Overall it's still ok but the plane would have been perfect.

More to come when I feel like editing/cropping/uploading -.-

gadget, looks like the small vapour cloud is just visable over the wings  nice work.

-edit, raygen, I can see why you're cranky, it's a brilliant photo. having the a/c in shit would have been perfect. :)

Mm Raygen, as you said, that's an almost perfect capture. Guess you've got a year to practise for the next one :p

Posted this on the other river fire thread... anyways, here they are again.

I'm really happy with the fuel dump shot. I really though about the composition before taking it, breaking it into thirds and having the jetty leading your eyes towards the middle of the image. I also worked out where the plane should be when I stopped the exposure (bulb mode with remote) and it all worked out nicely! :)

    Comments welcome

    eheh yeah I know :p

It was on a concrete fence/rail (whatever you call it) that's not flat :p

I'm definately going out and taking more night shots though that's for sure

My next thing I'll probalby get a tripod. Know anywhere that sells them cheap?

Surprisingly, Harvey Norman sells a decent tripod for ~$35. It has a quick release mount and a spirit level (which does get obscured by a larger camera) but is there none the less. If you need to know the brand, I'll post after I get out of this lecture and go home.
