I couldn't find a thread for this particular game, so I thought I'd create one. Rocksmith 2014 was officially released today in the U.S (with no delay for the PC version, which is a nice change), so it seems appropriate. Personally, I really enjoyed the original Rocksmith, so I'm looking forward to giving this one a try as well. Thankfully, the original Rocksmith Real Tone cable is compatible with Rocksmith 2014, so no additional hardware purchase is necessary.

Cost: $49.95 USD (excluding the Rocksmith Real Tone cable)
Purchase: Steam Store | Uplay Store

I'm a bit disappointed they didn't include one of Tom Petty's good songs (i.e. "Freefalling" or "Learning to Fly") or anything from Roxette, but with any luck the upcoming DLC might.

Feel free to post your Rocksmith or Rocksmith 2014 videos in this thread.

I live in hope and every time wish that there was some pink floyd material in these sorts of games.. every time I'm disappointed..

but, I suppose that's how pink floyd is.. overly protective of their body of work..

They once said they wont do any of the guitar hero/rockband games becasue it discourages kids from learning real instruments.

maybe they would be more willing to lend their music to rocksmith

Dumb question, can you use it as an amp emulator?
I mean if you get bored with playing the game can you just play whatever you want without the flashing lights fret board thingie
might get me motivated to dust off the guitar

Yes. There is also a session mode where you can play with a virtual band.

Looking at the guitar and bass version to learn bass.

What bass guitar would best suit?

Has anyone worked out how to change the sound of your own guitar in session mode ? Wanted to play some metal but my guitar sounds like a spaced out hippy wailing away.

Also anyone have problems with the really annoying extra fine tuning needed for some songs, the tuning part is a game on its own it seems. One small turn of the tuning nut jumps from -28 to +14 and so hard to get to zero. Tuning change from E Standard to the tuning needed for the Oasis song took forever to get right. Its less forgiving than original rocksmith.

This game / simulator sounds intriguing.

Is it marketing BS or do you really think that it is the fastest way to learn guitar?

What would one need to get setup to use this? Any particular guitar etc?

I just ordered the bundle for PC $229 delivered from BigW.

The guitar included is actually fairly good and the bundled price is decent value, the cheapest I could find the guitar is $200 from ebay. So $30 for the game and cable is great... (Les Paul Electric Jnr)

Heard good things from users etc, keen to try.

Yes it is a great way to learn, not sure if it "the best" but it is pretty fun.
Any electric guitar will do. You will need the realtone cable though from somewhere like JBs, or EB

Apparently Rocksmith is not a fan of my Xonar DX sound card. Is anyone else having issues?

This game is heaps of fun. It automatically tries to adjust and increase the difficulty the more accurate you are.
I'll have to limit myself to about 2 hours a day cause it feels like fingers are going to start bleeding soon.
The lessons are really cool, especially if you're a beginner.

I'm trying to decide whether or not to get this or just keep attempting to learn new songs through tabs.

If one was to get it, is it better to get the PC version or go for a console port?

I was thinking in order to change the sound of the guitar maybe one could plug into an amp as usual and use the line out for the game?

See this for sale on steam. Does this really work? Can you really learn to play the guitar with the likes of Rocksmith?

    I just got a copy for AUD$24 from Nuuvem - http://www.nuuvem.com.br/produto/1471-rocksmith-2014-edition

Haven't played it yet as I need to get a guitar and cable. Well the GF wants to learn Bass so two cables and a Bass too.

Yes you can learn using it, but not ONLY using the game. You'll find you will need to pause the game sometimes to gather your thoughts and practice things a bit. Plus it's good to also learn to use tabs, as this is the way you'll continue to learn songs.
