If i had to guess about CES i would say that there will be some details layed out and possibly we might see the 12nm APUs shortly after as a fill in product till 7nm arrives later.

it will be interesting to see if the APUs have much of an imporovement over the 2400g. a better memory controller or some extra cache might help some with their memory bandwidth limitations

If the 3300x could overclock to 5ghz theyd have a huge winner

This next gen will be about 15-20% performance gain over the 2000x series. You saw it here first.

I'm also waiting. Wifes 2500k @ 4.5ghz and my 3930k @ 4.25ghz are just starting to feel the burn.

I'm looking at two of the 16 core parts.

Imagine a BIG + LITTLE CPU. With a couple of massive fast high IPC cores in one chiplet, and then an 8 core current gen Ryzen 3000 chiplet.
Even have different frequencies for each chiplet. Get that dual core to 6Ghz+

It's certainly possible. I don't know why AMD isn't doing this.

software assumes cores are homogenous except for NUMA boundaries, so it would require new software to manage it.

I have no doubt OS could be coded to take advantage of it.

I have had almost 8 years out of my 2600K + Gigabyte P67A-UD7 mobo with 8GB of Corsair Vengance. Best system I have ever had, and far and away the best value. Even the Q6600 G0's I was able to get up to 3.6Ghz for a 50% OC did not last this long.

My Sandy has pretty much run 4Ghz all it's life, just bumped it to 4.1 a few months back. Has had GPU (GTX460 > GTX760 > RX580) and SSD upgrades only. Still does very well but I am starting to feel it in some games where it seems to hitch a little. BLOPS4 feels like it does not have enough RAM and I seem to get stutter at times. I think this is caused by flushing RAM to swap. SSD's are only SATA so could be the issue.

Looking at either the 3700X or possibly higher. Depends on local prices, but I'd like to be at 8 physical cores at a minimum, 12 would be better. 16Gb of RAM will probably be enough but if prices continue to drop I may go to 32GB.

I have a S775 with a 4Ghz Xeon on it. The only thing that could hold it back is the 8GB ram. But truth is, can still play almost everything (Excluding Star Citizen). Yeah we have all got those never die PC's. But who doesn't like shiny new, even if you don't NEED it.

    Looks like Ryzen 9 3850X(5.1GHz, 16C/32T) will be cheaper than i9 9900K(5.0GHz, 8C/16T).. GG AMD. :)

Of course, that's why I am planning on buying Zen2.

    EDIT: More Adored TV required...
