Should eventually be able to do that with the power profiles in the OS
I guess I mean most humans aren't rich enough to throw value for money completely out the window, especially not nerds who are/should be slightly smarter than the average person. Then again we technical folk do some pretty illogical shit sometimes...none the less the value proposition must be paying off for AMD as they seem to be selling just fine!
But there is always a good reason
me, used to smoke 2 packets a day and basically had trouble stopping as I enjoyed it
solution: put the money into something else I enjoy and benefit in 2 ways.....so I promised myself if I stopped smoking ALL the money would go into my computer hobby and back over 10 years ago that was $6000 a year
and yes, I have had the odd cigarette but very rarely ...maybe a packet over 10 years
Downloaded ABBA for my board today.
My 3700X was hitting 4.4 on one core previously, now it does it on 2 cores.
No percibtible change in performance.
Oops make that 3 cores hitting 4.4, all the others have maxed out at 4.3x. Not at once of course.
My case a bit better 3600X wouldn't boost past 4.16 now 3 @ 4.42, 1 @ 4.0, 2 @ 3.7, for 1% performance gain and I lose less than 1% in R15 against 4.325 All core OC but I'm getting what I paid for ha ha
I get 4.4 on 4 cores. Does this mean I win the internets?
you win the bit the cockholstering oxygen thief lives in
The cost of owning this piece of the Internet though is you are now responsible for making sure he never leaves.
Anyone else getting blue screens with 'core performance boost' enabled?
With it on, I get Win10 blue screens - mostly at low workloads. With the cores manually set to 3.6 or 4.1 it's perfectly stable.
Temps seem fine, 65 Degrees during a stress test @ 4.1ghz (crashed at 4.2ghz, but was only set to auto voltage)
Tried multiple bios's - it used to run with boost enabled fine...worried the chip is sickly....
3700x + X570 AORUS ELITE + Micron Ballistic Elite 3600mhz RAM
It's not a dirty OS is it? Tried a clean install?
Yep, it was actually a mission to even get the installer to finish - kept blue screening through the install before I found the 'fix'
I can give this a try tonight and let you know.
AMD are releasing some business oriented Ryzen 3000 CPU's. The look to have the standard set of business oriented features:
are you using ryzen performance power plan? I had some issues when I updated bios and my -0.5 offset didn't jive well with new bios settings, too few volts caused crashes
Brought back memories of opteron 1 series.
I wonder if these are unlocked?
They're probably more strict on power targets/limits. But there's not much point locking a chip when it probably can't go past it's stock boost values anyway
abba doing fine on the MSI B450M Mortar - 4.575GHz on two cores, and 4.525 on a couple others. And since the BIOS update I can even leave iCue on as the CPU will idle properly now.
I'm not sure I want to leave iCue open, but I can, so that's something.
My Opteron 165 is still here stuck to my ASUS A8N SLI Deluxe with some super sweet Mushkin DDR400 and a pair of 7900GT's.
Interested in your outcomes.
Someone has delidded a 3700X;
In a nutshell no sigficant difference was noted and they concluded not worth the risk for a soldered CPU.
I had a very similar build, while I should have spent the same money on the Q6600 instead, I really loved my 165 system.
