    oh shit I saw it on the hw unboxed video, didnt pick up the intel part of the slide :rolleyes:
    i almost had chickens when i saw it, glad i was wrong! 750 usd is much better, i did the math in my head on 1200 usd and panic set in when i guestimated 1800 aud

    So you're potentially looking at $1,200aud minimum :shock:

    Still MUCH cheaper than intel's nearest equivalent though

    Bit surprised about not included cooler. IMO should really be included.
    IMO the price and the lack of cooler make it a bit of a weaker choice than it could have been.

    I will probably build another Ryzen system next year in mITX format. I think I will probably go with just 12 cores for that, as it seems to be where the value price performance is.

    Interesting about threadripper needing a new socket.

    I don't think a CPU with that many cores is going to perform to any standard with a stock cooler tbh. I wonder how it'd go with one of the big metal coolers but probably pretty shit even then maybe?

    A Noctua cooler should easily handle a 3950. Moving up a 24 or 32 core threadripper air cooling would def be insufficient. I think AMD recommends at minimum a 280 watercooler and I think that would saturate with heat pretty quickly.

    btw: I see the AMD have more recent chipset drivers on the AMD site and it takes a whil;e for mobo makers to catch up



    that is a must, I reset my BIOS ( optimized with no XMP )and boot again before I flash........

    I think the important thing to do is to delete any saved user profiles. I have taken notes of my settings and can apply them fairly quickly nowadays (about 30 changes) but I was being slack by pulling the previous BIOS user profile. I think there were some additional settings and changes with the new BIOS and this contributed to the balked outcomes I was seeing.

    Sometimes the tough lessons learnt are those that stick for longer and allow a greater understanding?!?
