Not when the 4000 series is coming out in only a few months. I honestly don't understand why anyone would buy this 'XT' variant right before a completely new generation comes out.

Well those rumours weren't correct as we can see from AMD's own product specs.

Besides, Zen3 runs cool. I can do 4.55Ghz all-core on my 3900x and top out at 75c on a 280 AIO.

I'd buy a 3300X/T and wait for Zen3 before spending any big bucks personally, if I absolutely had to build a system right now.

I work in two locations so I need a second system with a fair bit of grunt, I really wanted to wait for zen3 but Q4 (I guess thats when they are coming) is a bit far away unfortunately, I expect big things from 4000 so AMD can just double dip into my bank account this year haha.

    Description for the BIOS:

Update AMD AGESA ComboV2 1.0.0.2 for 3rd Gen AMD Ryzen XT series processors and New Gen AMD Ryzen with Radeon Graphics processors support

    Sounds juicy.

I wonder if that means that AMD has already shipped new 4000 series CPUs to board makers for their testing? If so, then release is definately not far off.

Sounds like you got lucky with the Silicon bin lottery? Benchies will show for sure what these chips can actually do.

The XT is just something to spice things up for the fence sitters.
AMD always does this, and its complete forgettable. However, it costs AMD basically nothing and helps sales that tiny bit. It basically tells people to start clearing out their stock lines for the new range.

Well, it's pretty clear that the 'XT' series is simply a re-release of the exact same non-XT CPUs, just with the benefit of a mature process and consequently higher binning.

I purchased my 3900x a month ago, so i theorise that because i purchased mine so late into it's life cycle, it's essentially already an 'XT' as the binning has had time to improve. On release, people struggled to get a 3900x to 4.3 all-core, so it's a significant difference.

What's the Year/Week on your chip? Should be 2nd line of text printed on your chip. 2008 for example is 2020 Week 8.

Prices seem to have all gone up for the Non-XT 3xxx series, at least on Amazon.

Tried running your ram at 3600 with conservative timings? Slightly unstable RAM clock will absolutely wreck Ryzen stability

(Side note, PC ports of COD are quite often pretty shitty, does it crash in other games?)

I bought a B450i MSI board during the recent eBay sale, it doesn't have the Ryzen 3000 ready sticker on it - am I screwed? Don't have a 2xxx processor atm :(
