?surely the 3700x at $469 (currently out of stock) at computer alliance with 10% off coupon
Or the 3600 at $287 are better value.

The 3600 appears faster than the 2700x at everything except multicore.
    And uses less power...

I'm still torn. I mean I'll be spending what, $870 for a B450 board, 3700X and 16GB 3200, if I'm spending that much it feels like I might as well spend the extra $150, push it to just over $1k, and get the X570 so I can add a m.2x4 SSD later.

This is another reason I am waiting. By the time I get to upgrading early/mid next year there might be better value X570 boards available and a better choice of PCIE 4.0 drives.

What's kinda be cool is a plug-in extension board for itx to add the... 3? Pci slots of matx.

Cheaper than designing a new board. But you still wouldn't get the extra ram slots.

    $999 got me a
Ryzen 3700X bundled with the Wraith Prism RGB cooler
MSI B450 Mortar Titanium - white
    Team Delta RGB 16GB 3000mhz - white
    Crucial MX500 500GB
    NZXT H400 matx

All on eBay sales 10 to 20% off with included delivery.

Using a second hand ASUS ROG Strix RX470 card until i need something faster.

    Upgraded from a intel i3 6100T :)
The funny thing is that the 6100T was doing everything i needed it too so i now i have overkill.

If the 9700K comes down to 500 then it gets real interesting.
I haven't looked in detail but did any of the benches reveal whether they were running with full spectre/meltdown etc. mitigations? You'd think they would be?

Um can't you already use a PCIEx4 m2 on a B450, or do you mean literally FOUR M2 SSDs

Oh, I know, even my old 1800X is overkill for what I do (main PC) and even the A12 9800 does fine for my media box. but y'know.. new toys and all. :)

So watched like 4 reviews so far.

Not a single multi tasking benchmark.

In this day and age surely adding a handful of benchmarks of the top 5 games on twitch encoding in OBS makes the cut. Especially now that we are entering 12 core desktop chips.

I'd specially like to see what would happen if you used task manager to lock a game to 8 cores and have another 4 exporting a premiere video. See how that impacts performance in games.

Simple frame and blender etc charts just doesn't cut it in my opinion.

Not personally. I'm sure there will be reviews around this subject.

But on paper it 3000 series is more efficient than 2000 so if your mobo could handle a 2700x it will handle anything 3700x and below.

Then 3900x+ depends on the quality of your board.

That's the none technical TLDR in my opinion.

Still interested to have the difference between the 3700x and 3800x confirmed. Based on TDP and stock clocks, just binning maybe?

So I have told the wife Im getting a new PC and she took it well. But now I just need to convince myself I need one. 3900X would be coming up from 6700K. Its kinda hard because it really does play everything I want well. Just needs a little help when encoding video is about it.
