Arent they just Zen 2 chips with graphics added?
I'm still hoping that the Zen 3 range will give a sizable improvement over the current 3000 series for not much more cost. But the pricing of the recent XT release has me doubting.

Looks like the new 4000 APUs are now available on Taobao now, about 280AUD for OEM 4650G and 440AUD for the OEM 4750G ;)

They are monolithic dies so memory latency is lower than standard Zen 2.

280 bucks for a 3600 with an iGPU thrown in is awesome, though I guess retail in Oz or even imported from US would be higher than that?

Yep considering the Taobao price is usually without tax and sometimes even grey imports that is why they are cheap, I just had a look at the feedback looks like they are the Pro version :Paranoid: so far looks like 4600G and 4700G are nowhere to be found I will update if I do see them on Taobao since that is usually where these stuff pop up.

That being said, OEM 3700X only costs about 390AUD and OEM 3900X is only about 540AUD from the same seller, I wish our local retailers would sell OEM tray CPUs and not pricing them at the same price as retail counterparts...

I remember this was popular back in the Athlon & Athlon XP early era days.
I remember going into Austin computers in like 1999-2003 and they had big trays of naked CPU's and you could lucky dip one. It was better as it was typically $20-40 cheaper but you didn't get a box or a HSF that you would throw away anyway.
I'm sure it's much better for the enviroment too. So much more plastic packaging these days.

Yeah I think every single CPU I bought new was OEM tray right up until maybe an athlon64 something must have happened after then that prevented from being sold .

Do we have an idea of what improvements the zen 3 chips will bring at the end of the year?

Puny R3 quad core, probably with chilled water, it's not that unreasonable?

I don't think this is going to translate to Zen 3 desktop. The Ryzen 4000 APUs are old school monolithic dies instead of the chiplet design of desktop Ryzen.

You could be right, or AMD does monolithic dies for cpus with 8 or less cores, and chiplet for cpu's with more than 8 cores.

Well, more accurate if you say they do monolithic for CPU "ranges" that offer 8 Cores max, and Chiplets for "ranges" that offer over 8 Cores. Since things like the 3600, 3700 ect are 8 or less but still use chiplets, they just only have 1 of them + IO die.
