Pisses me off a bit to, if the 500 boards supported Zen 1 I would've already had a new board but noooooooooooooo, Zen 1 is pretty much only supported on the 300 boards .

    Doesn't matter, 5900X & B550M Mortar next week then I'm good for 3 - 4 years again.

It doesn't much matter, these days you have to wait for the okay to go and pick it up. Before covid you could order and just turn up and they would pick the order while you wait.

That's encouraging, we would like to build this evening or tomorrow.

People have already gotten them to work on 300 series boards. It is just an artificial limitation, anything that can take Zen2 should be fine with Zen3. Give it time ;).

    Ah shit.

    https://www.ple.com.au/Ryzen5000

Not in any real hurry, the 3700x is chugging along.
Might even have the 5700 out by then. I'd prefer 65w to be honest.

My worry is PCCG, PLE etc. That are taking pre orders might end up causing shortages or stock issues for everyone. Looks like Umart is the only store in all of Aus not taking 5900X & 5950X pre orders or pre orders of any kind, they also seem to be the only store with stock.

I'm waiting for more 65w versions as well, if the ASRock Rack X470D4U or X570D4U get BIOS updates I'll have to grab an 8 core to stick in my NAS :leet:.

Yeh mate do your research, 5600x is above 10900k performance wise.

Check ram reviews, ryzen loves high speed low latency.

B550 is good to if you plan to upgrade graphics to rx6000 and get the supposed perf boost amd are talking about when you combine all of that with an r5000 cpu.

Probably because they allowed to many to go threw and knew they wont be able to get stock. Think all these stores would've learnt from the Ampere cluster fuck.

They were somewhat prepared, people actually bought some Ryzen 5000 and there is still stock , the 5950x will be harder to supply, 2 x chiplets that bin at 4.9 Ampere sold out in seconds.
7nm has good yields unlike samsung 8nm with a huge die

Well an hour ago I picked up the 5600X and all the other parts for my brother's new build. It's gonna be a fun night.

The more I read the reviews the more I think about a 5950x.

    Its the lowest voltage part
    It has the highest boost
    It has the most performance
It has the most to gain from overclocking

I ordered from PCCG at 3 minutes past and even that's too slow :(

Still waiting on 3080 too. I am sad.

I guess the lesson I've learned is buy early BUT ALSO buy multiple and just cancel whichever doesn't ship.

Umart didn't make orders available till 9am on Friday which is a much better way of doing things and like I said you cant even order a 5900X or 5950X yet, the orders for those will go live sometime next week.
