Timings... Timing 16-19-19-39 vs 16-16-16-36 (which probably makes it samsung B-die) Am considering the 4000 kit though, but I may not have a 2000 IF capable CPU https://www.newegg.com/global/au-en/g-skill-32gb-288-pin-ddr4-sdram/p/N82E16820374021 Timing 17-18-18-38
they are probably lower bin or using different ICs etc but its always worth mentioning that listed timings are able to be changed quite easily lol. C16 isnt exactly hard to achieve at 3800~4000mhz even on junk 3200mhz kits. YMMV ofc and if the price is similar why not just get the better kit
Umart RAM has always been generic, never anything exotic there. I did get my first B-die kit there but it was bottom bin 3600 C16 stuff, that was when prices were crazy high, it was not worth it.
There are plenty around the place (including this group running locked 2000 FLK with 4000 mem speed. I think it just differs board to board, chip to chip, bios to bios.
no aussie retailers really sell decent kits of ram.. best i found "retail" was on amazon, via some seller on there, for the 2x8gb patriot steel 4400C19 bdie kits; something like 200~220aud iirc. v. recommended. otherwise; bought my 2x16gb team dark 3600C16 kit from the UK. use this kit in my daily and v. strong when benching too. g.skill 4600C18 royals from OCAU seller, no idea where he sourced - v. likely overseas and some random team xcalibur bdie from on here as well, sold that though. it could well have been locally sourced though. went OK, just excess and "worst of the bunch" so away it went
They stock what people buy. Most people buy the cheap shit over the more premium B-die stuff. I got my kit from Newegg.
PBO seems to be a waste of time for now? Turbo's reaching 5GHz on 3 cores, rest are 4.87-4.97 when everything is on auto. Custom watercooled, idle temps 32c, gaming 52c 5950x / MSI MEG X570 Ace (Latest BIOS)
Yeah, I'm waiting on pbo2 to actualy play with shit, for now it's an improvement overall, but pure performance? Meh. Here's hoping the MSI x570 bios that includes pbo2 isn't hot garbage. (I'm on 7C84v14. Might check out the current beta if I snag a 6800x to test SAM).
I honestly didn't have the opportunity as I had to flash-back to get the board to boot. I've only ever experienced the beta bios.
FYI, might help some folks; bios 2402 for crosshair impact, it uses AGESA V2 PI 1.1.0.0 Patch C (though a couple others do also) allowed me to get over 1900 fclk still testing, only just flashed it (as per the bog standard clocks, timings etc), but looks promising. few quirks with this bios not booting and needing "retry boot" to be hit to startup - even on standard settings.. idk. might still be the best to use for now however
5950X in stock at Umart if anyone is chasing one https://www.umart.com.au/AMD-Ryzen-9-5950X-16-Core-AM4-4-9GHz-CPU-Processor_57287G.html Edit: Out of stock as at 11:25 BNE time
Im in a similar situation and finding PBO just adds heat for me. Im on the unify and love the board so far, just want MSI to bring out a new bios that addresses offset voltages with PBO.
It loves those ambients! Im getting similar (maybe slightly lower) on my 5950x, though my ambient is 27 since testing.
