Well only intels amazing battery life can save them now. One of the slide packs mentiined "optimised battery life" .... Maybe AMD will pull a rabbit out of their hat on this one too. But its not in the graphs, so i think intel keeps one tick on the checksheet
also amds onw slides show they wont win in outright performance either so there is that I know if I was buying a laptop this year I certainly woundnt be taking a punt on amd rubbish its still tooo low end unreliable budget crap quite frankly
The slides i read showed 4% better than intel in single thread. 90% better in multithread. 28% better in gpu. Which slide are you referring to ?

20% lower SoC power - this is not insignificant amount, so we'll see.. SoC power is the only issue AMD were struggling with to enable fully competitive battery life.
i own a gen 1 ryzen laptop (13"). battery life is not a selling feature, not by a long way. it shouldn't even be called 'life'. it should be called "run from power brick to power brick time" (that's not why i bought it though) even 20% more runtime wouldn't get mine into the ultrabook 8 to 9 hour zone.
They already improved on v1 Raven ridge with Picasso (3xxx), so these claims would be in relation to it. IF vs Ringbus is always going to be a challenge here, but I don't think much optimization was done on first gen products
Businesses and most consumers are always concerned the performance to price ratio. If these new chips give more bang for your buck they could sell like hotcakes. Again it's all speculation until the reviews are out but given the oems jumping on the amd bandwagon for laptops,
I have to be honest i hope they pump up the GPU portion like bump up the CU count to 12 or 14 on the 4800H's 65W desktop counterpart, heck even a 95W edition with the bigger CU count would be awesome for a streaming and editing box that's got some extra headroom for kicking the dedicated gpu more headroom. would be great to have a system where the integrated vega can handle the encoding and streaming side and the dedicated one can just do it's thing. (i know you can kinda do it on some currently but it's touch and go from what i've observed)
