its aniche chip if you had an older one then maybe if you want the better gaming chip but it falls down elsewhere a 5800x is just fine and wont be long till this platform is dead so why bother really.
what it does show is the extra cache testign for the new setups BUT will that also casue no pbo or any sort of overclocking interestign launch but nothing i would throw cash at

Hardware canucks have an interesting take on the CPU. With BIOSes now available for older mobos, the 5800X3D is a drop in upgrade for AMD’s 300 chipset boards.

5800X3D or not, I think the biggest winners over the last month has been 300 chipset board owners (once BIOS' are finalised). Have updated to Asus C6H beta bios, no issues thus far on a 2700x but waiting for a 5600x.

Either way, AMD should be applauded for doing something different with the X3D, taking proof of concept to market whilst not sacrificing efficiency/monkey cranking the power to stupid levels.

You could say the same about an err certain media mogul.. Companies pay big bucks to have someone else straight out lie on your behalf while keeping the required amount of legal separation.

I recently built a Ryzen system with cheap but good components for $400 .
Upgrading the 1600 ryzen 5 to 5800X3D will get me some jollies.
