But in all seriousness, what does DVD look like on 52 in 1080 LCD?....DVD looks pretty good on 50in plasma.

Well, I would guess it'd look quite similar? There isn't much difference b/w plasmas and lcds nowadays. I don't know why a dvd on a slightly bigger LCD would look worse, particularly if both are upscaled.

Because plasma has always produced a better PQ with low signal strengths......whether it's because of better scalers or what, I don't know.

I’m thinking about purchasing one of these TV’s as the black levels are up there with the Kuro’s, well almost. Can anyone recommend a store where I can get a good deal that also has good customer service? I went into Myer today in the City but I had no chance in getting any service from there sales staff.

At myer city i managed to haggle the guy down to $2060. At Myer Bondi Junction, my dad haggled him down to $2000 incl. 2 year extended warranty on two TVs ($2050 before he said he'll buy two)

edit: this is for the 40" 650s

Hopefully no one gets stuck with a 610 instead of a 650 cause 2k with a warranty seems IFFY especially granted

end of year specials, ftw! I'm also guessing samsung is somehow incentivising myer employees for each sale, regardless of margin, as someone else also got the model for $2k in canberra myer

MMMm after having dealt with samsung and harassing them for incentives for a while they never gave us anything, so id be pissed if they did :p toshiba take care of us though :). Did you really prefer the samsung that much over a sony with a ps3? or just no use for the ps3? I reckon they are a fair bit nicer, but theres no doubt a free ps3 is a tempting combo :D If only i could get one for free with a kuro :D

man some of the prices on hdtv are way off, but its not a public wiki so i cant help it at all.. like the pioneer lx can be had for 4500-4600

I already have a PS3, and the samsung a650 is considered the best LCD on the market, at present within a $3k price range. How much would a full hd 40" sony +ps3 be, out of interest?

In comparison one would look at the X for 100hz as well, honestly i cant remember the prices on them with hdtv wiki outdated as hell, game on not selling sony and dtv down atm, and without a pricebook at home :p nooooo idea. ps3s are about 700 from memory, but yea july promotion, first 35000 full high def purchases get a free ps3

damn these TVs are nice. I have had my eye on these since i saw them in March in Canada. With the new Sony deal i just can't make up my mind. Also the fact that the 7 series comes out in august september. Mmm decisions decisions!

Well, the Samsung deal is a free bluray player, or Foxtel IQ2 package.

7 series seems to be a bit of a rip, imo.

    Everyone happy with there's?
I have been putting off buying a new tv since the M8 was king, glad I waited coz it seems I can get the 6 series for cheaper then what I could have got the M8 for a year on.

Free blu-ray player, i heard wasn't the greatest but firmware has been updated so maybe this has fixed some of these issues.

Series 7, doesnt really add anything worthwhile.

I think the inclusion of vid streaming over upnp is a massive plus n for me a really good (and worthwhile) feature. It will play xvid, divx and a few others
do you know the prices of the 7 series?
