I just got an email from JB Hifi offering a pre-order special... $1499 gets me a reservation on a 512GB one, normal price is $1799, and the 128GB will be $1499

    512gb + sd is interesting.

Its an upgrade... Not sure if its at all worth upgrading from note 8 though

must resist upgrading from note 8 on lease.. but $190 to upgrade and it comes with free upgrade to 512gb model + a $450 tablet I could sell for $300.. and I go from 20gb to potentially 60gb..

    Features that sound cool:

    -512gb storage
-AI camera, even tells you if someone blinked. Also detects what you are photographing e.g. plant and changes to suit.
-Bluetooth stylus, can use as remote camera shutter or control music etc.
    -Watercooled (cause bragging rights yo)
    -8gb ram
    -4,000mah
-Built in DeX (plug in cable to phone and monitor and with Bluetooth kb/mouse you have a full desktop PC)

For $190 I'd do it. But you are taking a chance (pre-review) that there's something really fucky with it.

Personally I'd want confirmation that the Exynos 9810 issues fixed or at least ameliorated. I'm not accepting that kind of CPU / battery performance for $1500 in late 2018, ESPECIALLY when we already know about it!

If we could get a SD845 I wouldn't hesitate for $190 if I was already on Sammy. My Pixel is already running P so it would feel weird to pay to go backwards (not that P is that spectacular, but already starting to get used to the little things).

A quick google shows Samsung didn't use the 9810 properly and park cores etc so it ran hot and killed battery quick as.

Read the anandtech links I posted. I'd basically hot battery sucking and doesn't ramp up or down anywhere as responsively or efficiently as snap.

There's also plenty of XDA chatter

Maybe it's still good but if you had a snapdragon would be even better. There are heaps of articles and benches out objectively proving this
