happened last weekend, had two less than 1mm thick lines about 5mm apart going across the whole screen.

last night i went to use it and now the screen is all bright white and above the crack is fine. The touch is still responsive as can draw a pattern to unlock phone.

how do i display the phone onto a monitor/tv?

Any USB-C to HDMI should work, ive used the laptop docks at work to test it

Yep, it's BS, just fragile screens  It will get worse too.

    How did it happen?

what do you mean samsung wont touch it? I've asked them to repair a couple of screens in the past. It was a non issue if it was covered under warranty. Otherwise i just paid for it to be replaced

I got quoted by Samsung for $250 about a year ago if I had to do a screen swap (not sure if it includes the OLED/LCD). But that was with an Optus/Australian stock.

its been good so far,its copped some abuse/knocks on site.

swapped the protector two weeks ago so was immaculate.

I had to cut the back paddock and the daughter wanted to come along so sat on my lap, had phone in my pocket.

took it out once we finished to check the time and it had the crack.

Yep, this is what I paid for my S8 screen replacement after dropping it on the road. They replaced the screen (inc. OLED) and battery too for some reason

I got a deep gouge that I didn't even know how it happened. My gf also cracked her screen from a small fall.

What protector are you using for the rounded edges? I used one that ended up with a large pocket of air in the middle....absolutely useless.

That's not a bad deal I reckon. It's normally about $150 Just for the OLED in parts alone iirc. To get all three main parts and service might be worth it, if they still offer it.

Nothing actually wrong with my phone though. Display and glass is fine, but the battery life ain't like new (still lasts a full day for me) but I've got a nagging feeling that Samsung might be deliberately cucking the phone with incremental software updates. If Apple does it and admits to it, then it's gotta be industry standard practice.

    I use these for my S9: https://www.dx.com/p/naxtop-tempere...or-samsung-galaxy-s9-transparent-2-pcs-506133

they are glass and curve perfectly around the edges - no bubbles and work really well. i use my phone in a nillkin TPU gel case and have dropped it a few times, but it still looks and works like brand new. would never rock any modern phone with less protection (got the same glass protector + nillkin skin setup on my LG G7).

I have mine in a 3sixt soft protector and just today I put a glass protector on the front. Feels bullet proof now. I just got a replacement because some reasons 3g/4g just stopped working one morning, so while it is still fresh, I put the protector on it.I hear too many stories about accidents happening to these now. I avoided getting a glass cover as I was afraid it would dull the interface, but these glass things are nice, much better than the plastic crap.

My wife has been using her s8 completely naked for nearly 1.5 years now. So I just bought her the same setup.

Given the age of the phones I was going to cancel the replacement insurance on both phones.
