Ive been running the beta build on mine for about 3 months now. 2gb ram and 500gb hard drive in it and its smooth as silk. I find it to be more responsive than XP was on the machine so you might have an issue there.

Has anyone tried an external screen?

New here, but this is an Ozzie site, so I can expect consideration . . .

It occurred to me some time back that a netbook which could support a reasonably sized external screen might >almost< be usable as a primary tool, given I'm old, and got over gaming 24 years ago <grin>.

Could someone who has used an external screen please post their assessment?

I can get little sense out of any dealer's/distributor's agents on the subject, so would appreciate any & all info you can glean from yr actual usage . . .

p.s. As well: if you run a Hackintosh, can you comment on whether the normal System Prefs/Displays (external_screen_attached option) appears, and if so, does it still offer you the ability to rotate the display +/-90 degrees. I do suspect that the little Atom might find that a bit too much of an ask, but.

    Cheers, Jen.

(Glad I stumbled over this site: it's nice to read some rationality.)

I have hackintosh'd my Samsung NC10 - however I had to replace the Wifi card with one that Apple supported to get it working (Dell 1390 card is what I replaced it with - a friend of mine GAVE it to me in order to try and convert me to apple.. lol)

Bluetooth is not working, but everything else is quite nicely.

Haven't tried hooking up an external monitor to it though, but if I get a chance in the next couple of days then i might give it a go and will let you know.
It only supports VGA output, but most monitors still support that.

Awesome little netbook though - very solid build/good construction and battery life is excellent - I don't use mine day to day though - only really when travelling.
