i wouldnt buy a V30 if you want a phone running pie. get at least an S8. i have an old S8 that was updated to pie recently with One UI and its feature-for-feature matched with the S9, which is pretty impressive for a > 2 year old android phone (although it shouldnt be impressive...that's another story).

My No.1 feature I'm looking for in a phone is Hi-Res audio support. That counts Samsung out.

I'm not fussed if Pie doesn't eventuate on the V30. Knowing it may be in the pipeline is nice though.

If you really care that much about hi-res audio then you can always use an external DAC. the LG DAC is great, as i say but i don't think any true "audiophile" (barf) would be particularly impressed by it.

Heh, I'm no audiophile. I've transitioned to BT headphones, so I'm sure I'd be shot mentioning those and audiophile in the same breath :)

Shits me though that a $1000+ phone doesn't support decent audio.

The V30+ can be had for under 500 bucks. So the trade off of Hi-res v's an older OS is ok with me.

might want to have a look at the G7 then, at least you get the SD 845 for your troubles (and the phone is a bit narrower which I prefer). The V30 is good but i wouldnt be paying $500 for a 2 year old phone.

Wow, for those leasing, we get an upgrade to a new 5g phone, and a $99 option to upgrade to the S11.

What does Telstra do with the old phones?

    Re sound via headphone.
The supplied AKGs sound balanced and volume is good, but not quiet as good as HTC10/LG.

The phone plays hirez flac but I guess "downgrades" to CD quality, that said I can barely tell the difference between 320k mp3 and 1100k flac let alone the hirez files.

There may not be a reason to upgrade, but I'll do for the new battery, although I can't kill the s10+ battery as it lasts all day, so I hope they don't skimp on battery size.

    4100mhr ftw, lol

they've recouped their costs anyway big margins in phones.
    resell second hand.
    all profit.

they wouldn't do it unless there was money to be made in doing so, they're not a charity.

They called me back in the afternoon. They must have figured out the issue cause I got the phone now.. quite happy with it so far.. Reception definitely seems better so that's a bonus.
