Yeah looks like the social media apps are poorly designed, I tired going on chrome desktop site messenger and uploading the file and it was much better than using the app.

Sucks how these apps are kinda ruining my experience with the otherwise great phone. The battery is outlasting my 14 Pro and reminding me close to the 14 Pro Max days.

Got it yesterday, had a little play with it today but not too much. Impressed with the camera so far but not impressed with how annoying it is to get photos off the phone, unless I have missed how to make it appear like a USB drive in Explorer.. will have to go back to using dropbox I guess coz the Microsoft Phone Link is garbage. Hopefully I can just turn on the USB thing if I dig around in settings. Anyway to give an idea of the zoom, this is just in 16:9 mode:

    .6x (wide)

    1x (normal)

    20230218_155630.jpg

    3x (first telephoto lens)

    20230218_155633.jpg

    10x (second telephoto lens)

    20230218_155637.jpg

30x (10x digital zoom on the 3x lens)

    20230218_155641.jpg

100x (10x digital zoom on the 10x lens)

Digital zoom isn't great as you'd expect but can hopefully be improved with a bit of tweaking and understanding the settings. But pretty happy with the optical zoom.

Plugging in via USB will make it appear like a USB drive, it will still use the inferior USB method that Android/iPhones use though.

The better solution is to either use the "FTP server" app and transfer it via file explorer over Wifi which I really like, or my favourite is to use "Foldersync Pro" and just have all photos sync via FTP automatically, particular good if you have a home server.

Mac equivalent is handshaker. probably the best app i've used for transferring to/from an android phone.

Same, assume the same with the S22U......plug phone in, open phone (if on screen saver), explorer pops up -> DCIM -> Camera....copy and pasta.

Tried a few different ports and cables but the phone just kept saying "Charging" and PC not responding at all. Finally went into Autoplay settings and set both back to "Ask me every time" and that seemed to spur it into life. Strange. Anyway here's another sequence of the built-in zoom levels, this time straight out of the phone:

    S23ultra vs s23plus...
Put simply, the ultra is the best all over the place.

Anyone else having the WIFI 6 issues that seems to be plaguing some users? Mine was dropping back to 5G fairly regularly when I was doing the initial phone setup yesterday. No issues at work today as we're not on WIFI 6 here.

Exactly, it's probably one of things that if you look hard enough with a bright enough light you *may* find this layering. But under normal conditions probably never see anything.

PSA - if you know someone that works at Telstra, there’s a staff sale (separate from the 50% off Samsung EPP) that goes for 1 week (started Friday) and the s23’s are 50% off
