search the M$ store for game pass, sign up for 14 day free trial
Download Sea of Thieves..
I'm all for supporting developers but this screams of big AAA publisher gouging more than developers getting paid what they should.
Game pass is 99% aimed at Xbone. Meh, Console subscriptions systems don't really have a place in PC gaming, considering that console games hardly have online sales because of the monopolistic platforms loaded with DRM - you can understand the appeal for xboners.
Poor bastards are still getting ripped for a online multiplayer subscription service plan from 2003 that simply uses direct peer to peer connections for half the games anyway these days.
Got it downloaded at home, better log in for a couple minutes later to unlock whatever day one bragging rights there are to be had
I did not know this existed until I read your post.
The video game industry can't blame anyone but itself for the poor working conditions as a result of excessive hours.
I signed up for the 14 day trial but I can't work out how to download the game there is only a "buy to own" button
Edit: using the Xbox App through Windows rather than going to the MS Store web page seems to have worked.
it's an ok game...
but nothing special. i doubt I'll keep playing
I played for 5mins when this happened.
So I've loaded the game on both my Xbox and PC.
I tried it on PC, but the controls felt clunky in some parts, and too fluid in others. It's also not intuitive. The "tutorial" lasts like 5 seconds to get the feel of navigating between your LT and RT options.
I also had issue where putting the mission parchment onto the table didn't to commence the mission without a vote, despite I started the game in solo mode. If you cancel the mission, the parchment is effectively discarded and you have to go get another. This can't be "by design"...
I'll try PC version when I get home this afternoon.
I've played on PC - recommend an Xbox controller on PC, it's much easier.
Servers are struggling with the load, hopefully should have slowed down by the end of work in OZ!
I have a feeling that the player base will drop off quickly once the trials run out.
Apparently the server cap is fairly low so even though the servers are struggling it's reportedly rare to see another player/group at times.
and looking at the other games included with game pass, i doubt i'll continue with that either..
crackdown 3 will be part of the game pass...whenever that comes out.
never played either of the first 2 any way...
So I got the PC version up and running.
Controls are soooo much easier with keyboard and mouse.
I've learnt 2 things:
- Avoid the big fuck-off storm at all costs.
- Playing solo does not guarantee you'll not encounter other players. I had a good run of maybe 90 minutes before I came across a group who killed me and sunk my boat. I only had 2 level-2 chests from quests, so didn't lose much.
Just as I personally expected....
Signed up for the 14 day xbox game pass trial last night and started to play.
First hour or so I was fooling around in solo play trying to "learn the ropes" Game really could do with a tutorial.
Eventually tried a group session and spent most of the night raiding a skull island.
Eventually killed the boss and unlocked the island treasure and man, what a haul it was!
About a dozen chests later and back in a port to sell them, turning a tidy profit of about 10k.
Managed to break myself away from the screen at 2am. Really enjoyed playing!
Will continue with the game pass trial for now and make a call if i'll purchase it then.
Definetly a game best enjoyed in a group and i think the quality of the community will probably make or break it in that regard.
I found playing solo rather therapeutic, until I was ganked.
sounds exactly the same as my first play...
makes you wonder just how replayable this game will be
So basically like every other MMORPG with forced PVP.
