Apart from half the little tiny clips inside which break no matter what you do I can still put it back together again and there is no way anyone could ever say its been opened before, even the manufacturer

If they broke it open the other clips would break and the tiny bits that break off would hide the others that are missing if you get what I mean

It takes a lot of care but it can be done :D

Just means the drive was manufactured in Thailand and it was assembled (as in put into the external case) in China. Nothing unusual about that.

DSE have them at $189 on their website now. I understand there is a shortage but doubling the price seems like blatant price gouging to me.

officeworks has them back at 189 as well. next to them under the wd stuff were the free agent go flex, 219/249 not sure what difference is. they say made in thailand though.

wd elements are 129, might get one to see what is inside?

wd my book are 159 iirc, not sure what the difference is.

    wd my book 3TB are 249/299 elements/mybook.

all the WD say made in thailand too, couldn't see date though.

Just bought a $129 2TB WD Elements drive from OW and it comes with a 2TB WD Green WD20EARS. Performance is not bad for a Green drive. On the plus side the case is easier to open without breaking.

The box was DOM 09/11 and the drive is DOM 07/11

    bastards doubled the price, dammit!

I got a WD Elements 1TB for $77 at Officeworks in Sydney today, ripped it open and it was a Caviar, runs well for backup so yeah

Also guys - there is a Press Release here stating that some activity is happening, so hopefully the HDD famine is over soon, but hey, at least we aint dying!

    Ah oh wells

I still haven't opened my 2nd Seagate 2tb as I don't need it. If anyone is having trouble finding one, happy to offload to a forum member locally (I'm in 3105) otherwise I'll return it to OW in Doncaster.

Had. Today 211.17. Nice joke :D

"Limit 1 per customer," I'm guessing they put that in for the 117 sale and forgot to take it out again :D

According to BigW's "find in store" option, I have 3 stores less than 15km from me who have low stock. Hmmmmmmmmmmm.....tempting. :)
