Might as well contribute while I'm off posting stuff in the marketplace! Ibanez RG470. My first (reasonably) good guitar. Love it, but looking at maybe selling it.. love the blue! Another 'not a guitar' entry. Pretty happy with this one: That and an MXL Microphone ensemble, for recording acoustic.
I havent recieved it just yet... but thats because its still being built here is the first time ive seen the guitar since i ordered it. this pic was taken either just before or during the lacquer stage... i think it looks beautiful. its a bad pic but its better than nothing Click to view full size!
It started losing tune stability in the first year I got it. I hadn't changed anything on the guitar, it just started to happen over time. However I got it fixed for free. The time, however I think I may have "sped up" the process by my actions... I still stand by the comments of it being a rubbish trem.
Yes, the second time around, which "sped up" the inevitable process. I love Ibanez as much as the next guy, don't get me wrong. But when you put a cheap trem on a cheap guitar, you can't expect it to be as good as a higher priced model with a more expensive trem can you?? I Mean I can see it's made from a not particularly hard metal, and it will wear down over time. So tuning stability will inevitably suffer after use and abuse.
Mmm nice SG Hey if you guys were gonna have a custom guitar built and tailored to you personally, where would you go?
Charles Cilia, based in Sydney. Hands down. You're in perth, so you might want to check out Perry Ornsby (or Ormsby) he gets pissy when I spell his name wrong. Though If I lived in Perth, I'd still get it from Charles Cilia . Besides that there are a few others, Frank Grubisa (Sydney), Pete Crossley (Victoria)
Hmm, cheers mate, will look into them for sure. That Charles bloke seems like the go if you can't recommend him highly enough haha Also If anyone is chasing some effects pedals or a peavey vk100 head shoot me a pm too, I'm away with work at the moment but will be back in 2 weeks.
I went to the Aldi of custom guitars - Rondomusic. But they're only really doing semi-customs at the moment. BTW, what pedals are you trying to get rid of?
Latest addition... Stumbling through the Valley in Brisbane last weekend, spotted this through the window of one of the shops and today, made an offer they didn't refuse... Click to view full size! 1995 Reissue Crafted In Japan Fender Jaguar She needs a little work. The lead/rhythm switch is a bit loose, which I think may be responsible for an earthing issue that it has, and I need to look at either a replacement bridge/saddle or a buzzstop, and a replacement trem arm. It's got a few chips and bangs and has obviously been a working guitar for a while, but has a fantastic sound, especially through a warmed up Marshall amp
I'd definitely be going to Perry Ormsby, even if you weren't in Perth (I'm not), but seeing as you are, you'd be crazy not to go with him - He is a truly exceptional craftsman. Oh, and do yourself a favour and get some of his pickups too - they are awesome!
