Well, Maxis have recently announced an expansion pack for Simcity (2013). Looks to address none of the requests & concerns of fans, but rather simply adding "futuristic" skins to the game.

    ...

Land plots are still the same size and judging from the youtube sneak peak it looks like the future also plays host to retarded traffic jams too.

Exceptionally happy that I got a full refund from Origin for this retarded piece of shit. :)

I just rebought from a cdkey joint for $25. Giving it another go.
In terms of servers and that stuff, it is working much better.

Playability wise, I don't think much has changed.

Small maps would be less of an issue if the region concept worked, but it doesn't.

I can still play my game, even after a full refund. Note that I haven't actually "played" it since getting it refunded. I'd much rather play something fun that works.

Spent most of the day playing this, as I was doing stuff around the house. I would look in on the city and just make sure it's working.

now the dam thing wont load "Unable to load the city at this time. Please try again?"

    Any thoughts?

Don't tell me that bug is still there... :wired:

Sounds like the city hasn't properly saved in the cloud I think. Same thing cost me a couple of cities before I gave up on the game.

New blog post on the State of Sim City.

    http://www.simcity.com/en_US/blog/article/state-of-simcity

One of the disappointing things is they have given up the idea of larger cities.

I can't imagine what the problem is. My guess is it has something to do with the Cloud.

Just like how the simulation was "too complex" for home computers.

    God I hate EA.

My guess is that they fired the true talent a long time ago, and the work experience kids just ain't cutting it at Maxis. The writing was on the wall with Spore, but Simcity (2013) proves it. Maxis isn't even a shell of its once former glory.

It sounds like their previous approach of smaller city simulation can't be undone. When scaling it up it must suffer a considerable performance hit. To make it work it sounds like they will have to rework the simulation engine which is probably something that they don't want to spend time and money doing. Time and money needs to be spent on selling you the "Cities of Tomorrow" expansion pack.

Not a bad effort I must say. Nearly finished building the arc as well.
