I was wondering if someone could point in the direction of where to start looking at how to program a simple app to work out a key?

I have an excel spreadsheet that splits the date in to the Year (YY), Month (MM) and Day (DD) and multiplies that by the version number of the software package we are using (VER) and then drops any decimal points.

    =ROUND(YY * MM * DD * VER,0)

I want to make a simple app that will pull in automatically today's date and give a field for me to type in the software version and to spit out a key with a copy button next to it.

What language should I be looking at to try something like this? I know I could just do it in PS, but I would like to try and make something professional looking.

    Thanks

You could do it as a browser plugin?

Is the version number always a single number, or do they follow semver?

Its usually something like 2020.01 2020.02 etc

I am looking at C# and Visual Studio. I know it probably massive overkill for programming something so simple, but I am using this as a very small foot in the door of programming something standalone.
