decided to do a clean install for my new mobo.

but before that, my pc sleeps after 10 min, & a simple tap of keyboard or mouse awakes the beast

but now, it sleeps but i have to hit power button to awake it.

i checked advanced power settings & it looks the same.

What is your new motherboard? Msi something?

Some default in bios to not wake from sleep for usb or pcie/Ethernet. Just enable those in bios.

Have you checked the settings in device manager for the keyboard device?

device manager\device properties\power management\"allow this device to wake the computer"

    ... is it ticked?

In the BIOS there's an option to wake PC with keyboard. Is that configured correctly?

Plug the receiver into the USB ports in the back and try that.

I've seen a similar thing with an old AS Rock board. When that board sleeps it flashes the power light too. Really annoying. I'll try the receiver in back trick and see how it goes.
Never had an issue with Gigabyte though through various chipsets (except AMD but that's a different issue).
