hey all, i just noticed that my OS hdd in my server is running pretty slow.

i have a similar hdd in my other pc (ST3120026A) and its pulling 46mb/s avg

Whats the common prob for this? Looks like its hitting a 24mb/s wall

that 33mb/s wall (look at the burst speed) looks like it's hit the limit of ultraDMA mode 2 (which is 33mb/s)

what sort of cable are you using? 40-wire or 80-wire? an 80-wire cable is required to get past 33mb/s.

the STR is probably maxing out at 24mb/s because the interface (commands + data transfer) is being limited to 33mb/s and there would be some command overhead/latency, leaving less bandwidth for actual data transfer.
