Thanks, looks interesting. Aus price will be important. Also no RAID 5 or 6. But I like the low noise low power. Some more links http://www.techhead.co.uk/new-hp-proliant-microserver-a-decent-vsphere-lab-server-candidate http://www.wegotserved.com/2010/09/13/find-hp-proliant-microserver/
Dell has some new NAS stuff too, but its on the other end of the scale. Pretty much a fully fledged PC customized to be more like a NAS. http://www1.ap.dell.com/content/pro...vault-nx200?c=au&cs=aubsd1&l=en&s=bsd&ref=hbn Looks like the big boys are starting to realise lots of consumers want large centralised storage devices.
I would never trust a HP product after my last 3 laptop disasters. :/ I definitely wouldn't trust them with a micro server lol
HP servers all the way here, no dramas at all. Wouldn't hesitate to buy one of these. Actually had a quick google but not much around in AU, unless I'm missing something...
First problem is that its not in stock and I honestly question if you'd get it at that price? The wholesale from Ingram is a lot more!
http://www.megabuy.com.au/belkin-hp-microserver-amd-n36l-1gb250gb35-sata-no-cd-1yr-p255124.html Buggered if I know why it says Belkin, but I think I'm gonna order two!
If someone can point me to where these can be bought at that price, I'll buy one right now and probably be able to post whatever tests are necessary. 1.3GHz on an Athlon II should be plenty fast enough for mdadm based R5. Edit: Okay, done
Thanks for the heads-up. Looking to buy one to run WHS v1. Edit: Just buying it now... it seems other people have had success with this.
