Had an attempted delivery today by Startrack from Dicker Data.

Annoyed though, i step out of the house for 5mins to run down to the shops to get some food for dinner and come back to find a "Sorry we missed you" note.

It always happens like that. Oh well delivery set for tomorrow.

Sure, but if I am happy with VGA out (I plan to plug a Dell U2311 in), the onboard graphics should also be able to handle full HD H264 decoding in hardware. Horses for courses.

Anyway, I will test it out when (if) mine arrives.

One also has to consider the thermal/noise impact of a dedicated graphics.

Still waiting on a shipping email from Megabuy.

Does this take normal size RAM, no need to anything half height or special?

Also, as a HTPC if you go for something like an Inno 3D GT520 with HDMI out, do you also need some small form factor sound card as well? Any recommendations?

I liked the look of the Seagate drive, the only thing that put me off was that I read the power consumption was quite high, which led me to consider the Samsung drive. I still have not made a final decision.

Yes, standard non-ECC DDR3 1333 240 PIN RAM (also ECC unbuffered) - read back a few pages there are links provided for several kits.

I am looking at the Gigabyte HD 5450. It is a low profile card with HDMI out (video and sound).

Yeah that was the card I wanted, but MSY in my state is sold out at both stores, so looks like the Gigabyte for me.

My order is processing but I put the wrong damn post code in.. ARGH.. so I emailed them back. I thought it might arrive Friday but I def think it'll be next week now.

(they email asking you to check the post code on Australia Post and email them back.. which I did.. which they could have done. I understand why they don't just change the post code and send it off, because they could be making an even bigger error.. but it's still frustrating - it's the second time I've done this with Megabuy.)

Makes sense. No wonder so many retailers have bullshit "remaining stock" levels on their websites... They are just getting figures from the suppliers which are shared with other retailers.

    Oh well!

    Cheers. :)

it works well only and only if the retailer has a live update feed from the supplier

I just rang Star Track Express and managed to track down my DessyTek order (was worried it ended up at TAFE since I work for UniSA and they tend to get us confused ).

It's first scan was on 10-MAY-2011 at 11:20 ie today
I paid by CC on Sat, May 7, 2011 at 3:47 PM
Got DessyTek Order Processed email on Sun, May 8, 2011 at 2:00 PM
and my order tracking page has no consignment number on it.

May be worth a shot if anyone else is concerned. Means I can order RAM/HDDs now and not have to worry! Also apparently it should be delivered on Thursday so it is two day shipping. Yay!

If anyone has a spare one for sale (sydney) please PM.

No I haven't and I'm actually quite annoyed with Dessytek, I have sent through 3 emails to them asking whether or not I have actually made it on the list as they have accepted my order and taken payment, but I haven't heard anything back except a simple "we can not be sure" and nothing since.

Megabuy's order should be here tomorrow though (Brisbane CBD) so hopefully I should be able to report back with some success :)

So did Dessytek supply you with a Tracking number, or did you use your name/address details to find it...?

Nope, I asked if they could track down an item without the con no. They asked where it came from (DickerData) where it was going to (me) and found it. Told me the con no and all is well :)
