IIRC, the start-up consumption seems about 5W higher than the competition but I would not worry too much as it does not happen often, and it takes just a few seconds anyway.

The idle and active consumption looks very competitive against WDs and Samsungs.

I will probably go for the new Seagate or Hitachi.

Nobody (DessyTek/MegaBuy) can confirm they shipped, but for some strange reason they can confirm taking your money!

    funny that

when they say discontinued.. please tell me they literally don't mean it? :(
pray that they're just out of stock, even though i know its likely it was just clearing for a refresh :thumbdn:

one of the most likely scenarios was it was left over WHS stock from the fallout after veil was released, other than that, without software support I don't think HP sees a market for a low cost server.

Sure, and if they make it clear that the stock levels are from the supplier. I think many don't do this.

mine finally got confirmed shipped from HBO via Registered AusPost.

it can't hurry up enough either, I got home and the only 1TB seagate drive with some recently downloads and data on it is clicking like mad and about to fail, I'm moving data off it atm so mine will be used for at minium a mirror set of 2TB non seafail drives, I might buy another 204UI sammy or go for the hitachi's everyone seems to be getting.

    Can't wait for mine!!

it's probably due to the point that drop shipping still has somewhat of a negative stigma.

Yeah, thinking I will go the Samsung - have always preferred them over Seagate in the past.

Also - First time I have noticed someone from Mandurah on OCAU.

Many of the distributors' stock levels don't update live either.

DessyTek and MegaBuy were drop shipping these from DickerData. DickerData were showing 297 in stock all through Saturday and Sunday and only come ~8am Monday morning did it jump directly to 0 stock. DessyTek's stock level went to 0 1-2 hours later, but MegaBuy's stayed at "5+".

From the HARD seem most are scouring ebay fro HP P410 raid cards.....tho I don't know about the decently priced part:tongue:

tho they do have the mini sas connection in the right place (rear of car...not top.... so the original cable fits.

P212's are also the go and cheaper... tho the connector is more to the PCI bracket thn the P410's
