Yes it's user serviceable. HP support asked me to remove and reseat the power supply to make sure the noise wasn't vibration, additionally the guide that comes with the microserver shows you how to remove and replace all the major components.

So yeah there's no voiding of warranty by pulling the thing apart - so long as the parts remain intact (i.e. you don't open the PSU, take the heatsinks off the mobo, etc) then your warranty still stands

There's next business day replacement on parts. So if mobo/ram/hdd/psu/fan/case dies- you get a new <part that is broken> shipped to you.

Thanks - I'm on the Online Chat with them now. I'm hoping the replacement isn't too hard.

Same here! Maybe we'll get another one for free? hahha

Yep I've had this happen in Adelaide as well. I kicked up a huge fuss with the courier company afterwards on the phone and they came back with it and and the courier even called me by mobile to check if I was here.

Call and complain, they won't do it again if my experience is anything to go by.

if that's true and it was the only batch, that means megabuy has the majority of the servers? (they supposedly had 100+)

As we are in the Storage & Backup forum, maybe we could leave the "my order of 462 micro servers turn up today, delivered by a hot chick in a big racing red coloured truck - woot!" at the door for a minute or two...

To those doing array syncs or some form of work; How warm is everyone's HDDs running in those plastic drive caddies, within that low noise, cramped box??

Server is louder than expected, but not unpleasant. I'm trying to set it all up now. I have a quick question for those that are using FreeNAS 8.0. Should I set the SATA ports to RAID within the BIOS or leave it as ACHI and use a software RAID? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

it would be prohibitively expensive to ship in a short period of time, by that time they could probably sell the lot there.
would you still pay 400 if they were shipped over?
I would have to think quite a bit more before the purchase personally.
