This guy makes most amateur photographers look positively casual by comparison, you've carefully selected lenses and and boned up on photoshop to turn your #nofilter photos into digital masterpieces or maybe you've dabbled in film. well stand back and prepare to feel inadequate - this guy built his own camera from pretty much nothing.

All I can see that he's not really into photography as such - moreso into building cameras. The results backup my thoughts.

The way I see it, he's more into the science of it rather than the art. Which I suppose is also part of photography.

So he has just put an aluminium body on an Agfa 85mm vintage lens/aperture/shutter assembly, not really rocket science.
Sorry but the original is much more practical. The new 'brick' is unimpressive, awkward and ugly.

Nintendo Labo in aluminium comes to mind.

Pffft. All amateurs - DIY film is the new hotness.

Back when I was "famous" and featured in TechCrunch.

(Note: my photos only, not my expertise)

Nah, he became my ex-father-in-law soon after those photos were taken.

He is the sort of guy who is quite happy to fiddle around in his shed and has no interest in sharing what he does with the outside world so I have no idea what stage the machine is at, although I did hear that the machine was extensively damaged during local floods a few years ago.
