I've seen the type of plugs seen here on a couple of solar/lighting setups. What is that specific plug type called? Is it a standard of some sort?

Nevermind, think it's MC4. Correct me if I'm wrong!

ah, yep, cool, ok. '12v DC connector' gets me what I want. 'plug' was screwing up search or something. Ta.

Be careful, there's multiple slightly different connectors that could be "12V DC Connectors". You really need to know the outer barrel diameter and the inner pin diameter. The pin diameter really requires a calliper to measure.

They are not even 12V specifically, or even DC. But yeah they are commonly used on low voltage 5V and 12V DC gear.

The technical name is a barrel plug and barrel socket. They are generally labeled by the pin diameter, eg 0.7mm, 2.1mm, 2.5mm, 3.2mm. 2.1 and 2.5 are really hard to tell apart just by looking at them.
