Had thunderstorms the other night and now our ADSL can't maintain sync, and sync speeds are pitiful, in the realm of 300-1000kbps downstream where it's usually 3500-5000kbps. Have no dial tone on the phone and have logged a fault... but any ideas as to what got zapped?

anything from the DSLAM port to your modem and every single component in between could be affected.

Same. In the gold coast. Was 10mb on ADSL2+ and router was zapped a few days ago. Now 2.7mb download, WTF is going on.

Are you in SE QLD as well?

Any idea how to approach Tel$tra about resolving?

    Thought as much...

No I'm in Tamworth NSW, and with Exetel

Check your modem/router against another known working one. Check your landline (if any) for dialtone. Log a fault with ISP.

    pretty much this
first thing to do is try phone at a friends/neighbours place or even better see if you can borrow their working handset in your socket.
also try modem direct to socket if you confirm dialtone without the model filter as they can quite often get damaged in a storm
if no dialtone still you can be confident you wont get a callout fee from your ISP and issue isnt your equipment ect
