Has anyone upgraded from an A7II to the A7III and found them worlds apart?

I'm doing more and more video these days and the A7II with my Tamron 24-75 doesn't seem to hold a great autofocus - and from what I've read the A7III is awesome at this.

I have just made the leap to the a7iii, af performance on the a7ii to a7iii , vastly improved in terms of Low light performance.

Been away for a week with my A7III and so far I have to say I'm so impressed, all my gripes from the A7RII are addressed. Battery is good, focus point select is welcome, and dual memory card slot is fantastic. I think I'm ok to lose out of 20mp of resolution in exchange for the price difference, AF, and burst rate on the A7.

But for me the killer feature really is the highlight metering mode that I just discovered. It's such a godsend. Am I out of touch or is this a unique thing to the A7? I've never seen it on a Canon.

Nikon has a metering mode that aims to preserve highlights but I've not heard of an equivalent for Canon.

Yep latest nikon's have it and its very good.
Considering the Sony/Nikon sensors are so good with shadow recovery makes it super worthwhile

FWIW I've found Nikon shadow recovery far superior to Sony.

It should say a lot that Nikon's shadow recovery was a large reason I swapped Canon>Nikon 3-4 years ago, but even with the average DR of Sony sensors I don't miss it a bit given the other advantages :)

    100% for a wedding guy!

But arent Nikon's sensors made by Sony so therefore couldnt possibly be better in any way?:D:lol:

You'd think so, right? But no. Sony DR is totally fine but the A9 just can't match the beastly D750 in that regard.

Yay.... Got notification my second A7iii was shipped today. Only a 2 month wait. I have a wedding to shoot this weekend so hoping it gets here tomorrow, although not willing to bet the farm on it.

I've got two A7III with one being brand new sealed in the box, trying to think of a fair price to put one up for.

What do you guys think? If I sold it here I'd have to put up the used one which is pretty much as new anyway.

I don't think it's fair to price it over retail, but I think it would get snatched up quick for the full retail price no problems.

I might try to sell the brand new sealed one with a Sony invoice for $3k or if that fails I'll sell my current one here for about $2.7k (bought from Ryda), I think that should be okay.

    EDIT:

Ended up selling my new one for $2.7k just for the curious, though I covered shipping which was crazy expensive I think over $80+ due to insurance.
