Win, I was worried it wouldn't have an ethernet port. I hope PSM still works with it.
oh what... AMD hardware? i'm out!
i think the controller is a step in the right direction though... the triggers look better at least
Ah okay. Just figure with the whole cloud thing they are doing for streaming older gen games, then they would also release new games through a store system. I can see them going down that track, like Steam.
This here is interesting though.
OMG!!! Super-Speed USB 3.0
That gave me a chuckle... it would be fantastic if it was 2004.
its 8x as much as a PS3...and look what that could do.
its all about using it well, PC's dont care because you just add more ram.
8gb will go a LONG way
so PS4 is basically a Sony PC with social media.
its 16x actually isn't it?. PS3 was 256MB XDR and 256MB GDDR3.
It's a good point really, they're not so much gaming consoles as much as media platforms now
Which i am ok with.
Means that its easier for developers to make games cross platform, almost means the possibility of cross platform multiplayer!
Yeah they did say they made a mistake with Cell, which is why the went with X86. Also hopefully means it wont be as expensive as the PS3 was when it launched.
kinda, but this goes back a couple of posts when I said not to directly compare hardware, because the console and pc worlds of development are very different
compare it to last gen consoles, not current gen pc's
yes, pc's are always going to be faster now that SLI is here, just keep adding gpu's...consoles cant keep up with that. then again, a single current PC gpu is almost the same price as a whole console...and uses around the same overall power.
consoles have a lot to consider, TDP and thermals are major factors. the PS3 was pretty much a heatsink to get the heat low enough, and breaking 250w for a console is a big no-no (countries like japan have much smaller amp usage than say Australia)
I dont think we'll see cross-platform gaming. Microsoft made the point pretty clear from their experiment with the XBOX360. Unless you count CCPs' DUST 514 as cross platform? :/
I'm sorry but cross platform multiplayer is a terrible idea. PC players will always be able to aim faster and move more accurately.
I guess I miss the days of a gaming console being for, you know, games. Without all the other crap tacked on, does it make games better? Nope!
No but.. facebook! Come one! And youtube! Who cares about games! Ive got a feeling the 720 will be the same.
I was more thinking for PS3 and XBox. PC cross platform would be incredibly hard.
Whats wrong with the extra stuff?
You can just turn it off.
Doesnt make the games worse.
Besides, id rather have the option than not at all.
It's not really considered an option when its part of the product features.
So when are they going to actually reveal the console?
plz sony pls
thats "placeholder price", *Placeholder Price. Final price yet to be announced*
very impressed with the gfx, was hoping to see a picture of it!
I noticed that it's listed as being GDDR5 - which I'm pretty sure is the same stuff that's on graphics cards these days, as opposed to the DDR3 we stick in our uberboxen.
I'd be pretty happy with a system that had an 8gb graphics card in it doing all my processing, dunno about anyone else.
I'm fully aware of that... They need to oversell it, otherwise they could wind up being in shit creek... Although can you imagine if they opted for $500 pre-orders and it wound up being $600... you'd have to hope they'd honour it.
