You still got a ps2 around? In 2 or so years of your ps3 breaks you going to replace it?

Apart from all that why would I want to have more devices plugged in then I need?

Sure do :D. And I emulate some Ps1 games... when I want to play them once every two years :D

I'm quite happily biding my time. By the time the first part of MGS5 is released I have no doubt there will be a good amount of stock on the ground and I'll have no issues getting one. Until that time there is really nothing of interest that will motivate me enough to drop coin on the PS4 or make me grumble over thin stock levels.

I could if I wanted to be smart start buying controllers and such so I had a couple by the time I get a unit spreading out the outlay costs.

Then they'll have a bundle with a controller when you buy it ;)

    Always happens

But that means I'll have enough for when we want to play a silly group game that needs 4 controllers and possibly a spare that is fully charged.

This will be irrelevant for 95% of Australians due to the internet speeds required to even make it half decent. This is primarily geared towards Americans who have cheap, super fast internet

Not surprising noone is really talking about it here :Paranoid:

Average American internet is slower than ours already, you need around 600kbps if I remember correctly for this to work. Should be fine for most people in Australia's main cities.

I highly doubt it would work effectively with zero controller latency on a 600kbs connection...but hey, I'm willing to be proven wrong on that :)

not only that, what if it's a PS1 or 2 game you don't own? You can buy/rent from PS Now.

^ Exactly. This is good news. I don't own any consoles now other than the PS4. Part of the reason for buying a PS4 over a Bone was that I'd be able to play the games I grew up with (Ape Escape, Tombi, Metal Gear Solid) or missed out in my recent years (God of War, Heavy Rain, GT).

"Zero controller latency" doesn't matter didly to me, since I won't be playing control twitchy games. That's what the PC is for.

Good luck playing QTE (quick time event) heavy games like MGS, GOW & Heavy Rain with controller latency. They are a pain in the ass before u have any controller lag to take into account.

5Mbps calculates to around 625 KB/s....which is adsl1 speeds. I'm just questioning whether they can deliver it effectively on a connection that slow. I imagine you would also need a pretty decent uplink

ADSL 1 at 625kb/s, I barely get that from ADSL 2+ from a decent host.

At 5Mbps that surely would only be at ~720p. You would need at least 12+ for 1080p, and even then would not look anywhere near as good as on disc. However I know next to nothing about the tech behind it so who knows. All I know is that this would be great for anything but racing or shooters, I don't care what their PR guys say.
