A USB drive that large would be exFAT ftr.

Edit: It's fake. Sony have no publications of it on their website. Google only shows blog sites that seem to be fascinated about the hype, but still nothing official.

They've been doing this for years. This is why a lot of people are not really willing to buy drives of ebay. It says that in file manager but once you go over the physical capacity it will corrupt the drive and its all over.

I heard somewhere that what these sticks do is start using your hard drive to store that extra 750 odd gigabytes, and you think the flash drive is amazingly fast etc, but you try and take it to a friends and absolutely nothing works..

write 100 gig of data to it - it will be:

a: shit slow. and error after about 1-2gb
b: shit slow, and when you plug the drive back in again, the data wont be there.

run an hd tach on it, it will read normal for about 1-2gb, then drop like a stone after that. Definatly fake.

No, they're nowhere near that smart (and I doubt that Windows would allow a USB drive to write directly to the HDD anyway). Quite simply, they've got 1GB - 8GB of actual space. The controller chip is programmed to report 800GB total size, and the file allocation tables are set up for the same amount. When you write more than the actual size of the memory, it just overwrites the older data or discards the new data. If you write 800GB to this one, you'll find that you can only access the first 1GB - 8GB or the last 1GB - 8GB (depending on how much memory the drive actually has and what system it uses).

No. Any windows format is never a 'real' format.
