Does Starlink offer real phone support or is it the same old Philippines stuff like the other telcos?

Does it matter what Country the support team are in... as long as they give through support?

Yes, it does matter, that is why I am asking.

12mths. ago Starlink didn't have ANY phone support even in the US, it has been a huge customer complaint.

American based.. there is aussie number but it is only for subscribers and it is only a call back system.

If purely a billing issue.. contact them if anything else there are plenty of Facebook groups that offer alot of help

    Haha!
<a man places Starlink Mini in the open for signal and walks back to his laptop -> during which time a miscellaneous black Labrador comes along and steals said Starlink mini and runs off with it to chew on.>
Another enjoyable day in the park.:D

I got the $0 plan. They sent me a free Mini with $0 basic plan and 50% off proper plans if I ever purchase one. As a thanks for "being a Starlink customer for more than a year" or something. Alrighty then.

It's been in a box next to my desk for a month.. I should probably at least unbox it and turn it on so it can update itself or whatever. :)

I would be interested to know how many watts the mini uses, to see if it's practical for camping.

I have seen grumbling on Starlink forums about it only coming with a mains adapter and not 12v which seems a bit counter-intuitive. But I will plug it into a power meter and let you know.

I’m sure MUTMAN would love to do this for you! :)
He’s always grumbling about his NBN access and has a love for shiny things too.

As an aside, there seems to be a few suppliers of the Starlink Mini style battery now, which is good to see.

Can't avoid the star link demand charges here ...

It's ok now, I've built a bridge over my connection speeds (or lack thereof).
I'm content on my most excellent FTTN at 87/17

Plenty of 3rd party 12V/24V Starlink power supply kits and cables exist, along with brackets and mounts, appealing to the camping / caravan / marine markets.

    e.g: https://www.12volt.com.au/starlink/

I have the mini set up in the backyard currently - anything anyone particularly wants me to test? So far I've done Netflix, Youtube (at different resolutions), web browsing, speed test, power consumption.

Can you hold a stable ssh session with the service, for remote backups? I guess you will need another layer if it’s a CGNAT-only service, something like Tailscale https://tailscale.com/

Hmm, not easily, as I don't have any hosts that will let me SSH in from random Starlink IPs unfortunately.
