    hi all
first post here, apologies if its in the wrong area.

I'm interested in getting a 1151 motherboard that can run speedfan.
I have a custom water loop and need speedfan to control my rad fans to adjust via cpu/gpu temps.

If any of you use speedfan can you please tell the model of your motherboard.

    thank you for the replies.

Most motherboards are able to set via bios or software.

No need for antiquated software anymore.

looks like it was last updated on

from looking it does not seem to offer anything over what comes std with most modern motherboards.

fan controllers with dedicated software would probably work better for your use case.
I have recently started to use the corsair commander mini, come with the ability to control 6 fans based on what ever sensor you choose on the system. it even comes with it's own temp sensors that you can run to where you want them to be. that with corsair link (much better now then it was a year ago) you get a very capable solution.

there are other fan controllers (nZxt comes to mind) that do the same thing with similar software.

    thanks for the reply guys.

I want to have all my radiator fans(7) ramp up to match gpu temps as well as cpu temps most of the software lets you only choose one temp sensor eg cpu or system ect..
I have a gb gaming 7 board and the fan control software SIV if awful.

have a Vantec fan controller but have to use ext sensor that are not as accurate at reading temps, hard to find a place to attach them to get accurate readings.

Hey mechwarrior, i have the exact same issue.
I have 2x140mm Noctua fans pulling air in through a filter and 280mm rad.
These fans only respond to CPU temps, and do not spin up to meet GPU temps.

Back in the days before fan control was a common thing it was normal for all fans to run at full speed and many people would use volt tricks or controllers to change that.

Now that PWM is just about standard on all pin headers the hardware exists for dealing with fans, but the system firmware is lacking for having the fans react to GPU in addition to CPU temps.

If you find a solution let me know/pm me, if i find something i'll drop a post/pm here.

I have a fan hub the problem is that the fans react only to Cpu temps, I want it to react to Cpu/Gpu temps at the same time.

    @V81
    will do

You can't get fans to react to 2 different temp sensors at the same time.

GPUs don't have temp sensor feed to any header. GPU's run off their own temps.

Case fans usually run off CPU temp or some other motherboard temp. Your motherboard software will do this.

speed fan can monitor gpu temps, my plan is to use a pwm fan hub connected to a motherboard fan header that speed fan can control and have all my fans react to the temps I choose.

this worked on my old X58 setup.

I have Speedfan controlling both the fan speeds on the fans connected to my H110i rad and the extra case fans plugged into an ASUS Z170 Pro Gaming too. Using the PWM hub included with an Evolv ATX plugged into one of the aux headers for the case fans (watching both CPU and GPU temps, can spin up the fans for either or both), and a 2x PWM splitter to the radiator fans, plugged into the CPUfan header & watching core temps.

Took a little bit of setting up, but works a treat. It's nice being able to have the fans sit on 5% until things start to heat up, AI Suite won't let you do this.

thank you sir for the post.
looks like asus z170 boards should work with speedfan.

No worries, it's a good bit of software and I definitely prefer it over AI Suite. Just for a bit more info, here's a screenshot of it running:
