In bygone days I'd have said definitely yes to the Adata - but I'm sure I've heard that the Adata has been changed, either the controller or the NAND, I'm not sure, and you'll find that the newer ones are inferior to the older ones. If you've had your existing one for some time, then the newer one, named exactly the same, is noticeably slower and not the bargain that they used to be.

I think the Sabrent drives are currently the cream of the cheaper drives.

Have you got some side by side benchies showing this? I'm sure it would be a case for RMA if this was the case.

Also, can you get Sabrent locally? It would be a PITA if you needed to RMA them otherwise.

all good mate, i'm not in any real hurry.
i was going to go a fat ssd for my download box (which i still havent moved over to a pi4 yet, shame on me) and a 4TB would be better, but pricing is silly
because it'll sit for ages before i actually pull my finger out i figure the prices will have dropped anyway :D

    Yes I'm hunting a 4TB also.
Not quite sure why I ended up with a 1TB ssd really?

There should be an OCAU pooling of "download boxes" :)
I was going to send a mate in NSW a drive to copy some of his 'Linux ISOs' onto and he said 16TB pfft! you'll need at least 22TB just for the xyz collection!
