Anyone figure out how to put the coupon code in? I'm all the way up to where you submit the order, but haven't found anywhere to add it in? Never mind, you have to follow the link directly from ozbargain, which is: http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Toshiba/HNSNC512GBSJ?APC=READERSPC otherwise you can't add in a coupon code, they don't have a coupon system.
Is the LiteOn drive any good? I've seen the special a few times but haven't got around to researching it. For $159 that's a steal! I was about to pay $100 for the 128GB Samsung EDIT: most of my Google searching comes back to OCAU links
I'm currently using the s100 and couldn't be more happy Can't speak for the 256 model but I'd have no hesitation buying it.
The Sandisk 120gb is ok, for some strange reason though, my Sandisk runs faster in my Sata 2 net pc compared to my sata 3 HTPC, kind of annoying.
Today's CoTD has Samsung 830 256GB for $199+ps http://www.catchoftheday.com.au/smallfish_info.php?products_id=52562
Not too bad for 256gig. "Plextor M5S Series PX-256M5S 2.5" 256GB SATA III SSD $165 + Shipping (or Pick up free in Sydney)"
Plextor get good reviews, not sure about reliabilty, but not heard anything bad. Plextor = Lite-on although not sure which is chicken and egg. I bought a 256gb liteon s100 from scorptec for $169 (mightbe same as plextor m3s), because it had a msata ssd inside the 2.5" case. I put the msata in my ultrabook to upgrade the 128gb samsung. So far all good. For $169 you can't go wrong. Prices will come down, intel released the 335 model, but it is no faster than the 330 model. Samsung released the 840 model which is the fastest I think, so the 830 will reduce in price. Good times, reminds me of the 3.5" price war before the Thai floods. I am only buying 180gb+ sized drives, for use in my OS's. Given prices, $160 for 256gb is fine and I don't need more than 250gb for laptops (200gb free), and all my desktop/servers have large 3.5" drives for storage, and given their reliability and price I don't see that changing soon.
hmm which should I go for SAMSUNG MZ-7TD250B 840 Series 250GB 2.5" SSD $219 http://www.arc.com.au/pub.php?gid=24145&pid=52178&p=product or Samsung MZ-7PC256B/WW 256GB SSD 830 Series $205 http://www.arc.com.au/pub.php?gid=24145&pid=44473&p=product
Finally Samsun 840 pro's 256MB $275 https://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=22032
Was just reading these seems to be big issues going on with them 3 out of 4 anandtech test drives have failed. For me that = Avoid like the plague I guess I'll go an 830 which is stable and get the 840 later when the bugs are all sorted out
