Thanks man, I was looking at the Crucial T500 if I went the M.2 route.

    MORESPACE doesn't work on Centrecom
"The coupon code you entered couldn't be applied to your order"

Even on their Ebay store, you get 10% off if you click on the code yet only shows 5% off and their price is $220 for the T500, CC are full of shite.
The Seaford store is great but the Bundoora store is a shocker. Also the Woolies is up to $20, I think from memory this morning, the WW gift card was $5 with the T500 purchase.

I never dropped back into the thread to detail my experiences with the fikwot I mentioned here

Suffice to say it went back to Amazon with extreme prejudice and a nastily-worded description

What a POS! As soon as drive buffer and then HMB filled, it went to zero and just sat there. Relieved to get the money back so easily with Amazon. They CGAF when they're only fulfilling an item, not selling it to you. Absolute piece of...

Thank you for the warning! :)

If only there were a way to go back and edit that post with a brief header or warning from the future to protect others from the search results. ;)

The $8 "MORESPACE" code from Centre Com have expired. But still a good price.
1Tb Samsung Pro with heatsink above is now $167 still decent.

Other deals that are cheaper than mid tier models of known brands or even unknown Chinese brands

I believe they are a joint venture between Matsumura Fishworks and Tamaribuchi Heavy Manufacturing Concern.
I heard they're disrespectful to data too

These days ssd design below cutting edge is dime a dozen and mass produced, and both are using known OEM controllers like phison/Innogrit/Silicon Motion and nand/dram from YMTC/Micron/Samsung/Nanya so the quality is likely to be on par to well know second tier like SP/Team/HP/Gigabyte/MSI/Kingston/PNY etc

The unknown is after sales service and in many cases misplaced expectations by the consumer expecting 990 Pro level performance after buying a $250 4tb nvme with a HBM Innogrit controller matched YMTC QLC nand

    Shenzhen Lingde Technology Co., Ltd.

Fanxiang, Fikwot and Ediloca are different brands of https://www.ldcems.com/

    https://www.ldcems.com/index.php/aboutus.html

It is the best selling ssd brand in JD.com and fastest growing ssd brand/sales in Amazon

True, as long as comparisons are based on real life. Just like I have bunch of Kingston NV2 2tb ssd and they will underperform compared to SS 990pro.

What really matter is the after sales service aka warranty.

Basing on the fact Fanxiang is likely using a reference design and the nvme is likely made in the same/similar factories that produces nvme for Silicon Power, Team Group, Sabrent, Kingston, Gigabyte, MSI, Adata and all other second tier brands, the quality of the pysical hardware is not likely a factor.

Are there any consumer SSD's that are good enough for NAS usage or is the meta still to buy used enterprise stuff?

    What is the likely data usage pattern;
    Database
    Continual writing ie video editing
Static storage ie download once but read many times like movie library

Though there is some enterprise ssd on sale here

    https://forums.overclockers.com.au/threads/intel-ssd-clear-out.1355275/

above will likely beat any HDD in performance like for like setup.

S/h enterprise gear is very high still, it’s slightly better than it was a few months back but it’s still overpriced ATM.

MX500 2TB as a torrent drive in my NAS is living well beyond my expectations.
I do try to delete/move files off it and let it have a day or so to sort itself out/trim every couple of months. But I haven't noticed any slowdowns or performance issues, so it's good in my books.
